Favorable days for planting cucumbers in a greenhouse in the Moscow region in 2021 according to the moon

Cucumbers

Botanists and astrologers recommend planting cucumbers in greenhouses in the Moscow region in 2021 from March to May. This timeframe can be adjusted depending on the region. In the southern part of the country, planting begins in March. Residents of the Urals and Central Russia plant the crispy vegetable in the first and second ten days of April, and in the north, in the first and second ten days of May. Select seeds based on their ripening speed and desired shelf life. Planting in greenhouses begins when the weather outside is consistently warm.

Features of the region's climate

Weather conditions in the Moscow region are determined by external factors. The average winter is cold and long. Frequent frosts threaten the future harvest, which requires additional care. Spring is characterized by short-term frosts. Snow cover disappears in late March or early April. The summer months aren't always warm. Forecasters report dry weather in some regions, while high humidity levels are common in others.

Note!
Before planting cucumbers in a prepared greenhouse, study the average monthly precipitation. While the crisp vegetable thrives on moisture, excessive moisture in the soil can cause root rot.

The Moscow region's climate is shaped by a rapidly developing metropolitan area. The metropolis is approaching summer cottages. First, the soil is tested for heavy metal levels and other byproducts of human and machine activity, and then cucumbers are planted in a greenhouse. The vegetable prefers a pH of around 6.5. If the pH exceeds this level, 1.5 kg of dolomite flour is added per square meter of soil.

Advantages of greenhouse cultivation

It's worth sowing cucumbers in a greenhouse if you're confident in the quality of the shelter. First, check the walls for cracks, make sure all joints are draft-proof, and so on. Pay attention to water protection. If the area experiences frequent waterlogging, install drainage. Prepare the soil. High-quality planting is impossible without monitoring the soil's pH and nutrient levels. If prepared correctly, greenhouse growing offers numerous advantages:

  • the coating has a high level of light permeability;
  • protects seedlings from excess UV rays;
  • has thermal insulation properties;
  • the structure is installed in a free area in the garden;
  • do not construct a multi-level foundation;
  • there is no need to build a massive frame;
  • the surface can withstand the impact of snow and other precipitation.

There are two types of equipped greenhouses. The first is temporary, used during the summer season. It is installed in a moderately lit area, away from drafts.

Note!
Models made of cellular polycarbonate are in demand. The second type of greenhouse is permanent, used year-round. This product is distinguished by its increased resistance to weather conditions.

Greenhouse planting dates (lunar calendar)

Plant cucumbers in a greenhouse in the Moscow region In 2021, it's important to pay close attention to astrologers' recommendations. Favorable days are calculated based on the position of the celestial body in your zodiac sign.

Month Days Note
March 3, 4, 17, 18, 22, 23, 30, 31 -
April 8, 9, 14, 18, 19, 25, 26, 28 The fourth month of the year is fraught with sudden frosts, so in regions with unstable weather conditions, a heating system is installed in the greenhouse.
May 5, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25 The planting dates depend on the May rainy season, which negatively affects the seed material.

Prepare the greenhouse 14 days before the planned favorable date. If the greenhouse has a heating source, plant the seeds as soon as the temperature inside reaches at least 15°C.

Unfavorable days for planting

Astrologers designate a time when it's not recommended to work with seedlings. Negative dates are divided into several categories. The first is 100% unfavorable, when no work is done on the garden from dawn to dusk. The second category is partially unfavorable. This refers only to periods of time when work is abstained.

Month Partially unfavorable 100% unfavorable
March 11, 27, 29 12, 13, 14, 28
April 10, 24 11, 12, 13, 27
May 14, 21, 27 10, 11, 12, 26

Those wishing to plant the crispy vegetable with treated seeds during the so-called "neutral days" should monitor weather conditions. The moon is inactive and has no positive or negative influence on seedlings, so weather conditions and the chosen agricultural practices are crucial.

Features of cultivation

Favorable days for planting cucumbers in a greenhouse are helpful, but they don't determine the quality of the future harvest. The initiative lies in your own hands. The first rule is to choose varieties suitable for growing in the Moscow region:

  • "Amur F1" - fruit weight reaches 100 g;
  • "Zozulya F1" is a hybrid variety with long fruiting;
  • "Claudia F1" is a hybrid with a cluster type of fruiting, not prone to overgrowing;
  • "Courage F1" is a universal hybrid that is distinguished by its high yield and low maintenance requirements.

The second rule is to treat the seed. First, the seeds are dipped in a saturated salt solution. After two hours, the container is checked. Any seeds that remain on the surface are discarded. The seed that sinks to the bottom is placed in a moderately saturated solution of potassium permanganate.

Preparing the greenhouse

The greenhouse is built on a raised site. This prevents moisture from stagnating in the soil. Building a greenhouse near slopes is not permitted, as this will cause the plants to become permanently submerged. The greenhouse is erected 15-17 days before planting. The heavier the soil, the higher the structure should be. The orientation of the greenhouse is important. If the site is level, a west-to-east orientation is preferred, while on a slope, a north-to-south orientation is preferred.

Note!
The artificial structure is being erected on the southern side.

When choosing a greenhouse location, consider crop rotation. Cucumbers are planted in a new location each year. This active rotation of locations positively impacts the speed of fruit development and prevents weakened immunity. Inside, a ventilation system is installed, along with protection from drafts. Additional insulation is installed near the vents and entrance area. This is especially important in regions with unstable climates.

Planting and caring for cucumbers in a polycarbonate greenhouse
There aren't any particular differences when growing cucumbers in a polycarbonate greenhouse. However, growing any vegetable in a greenhouse requires knowledge…

Planting seeds

Inside the prepared greenhouse, the soil's physical and chemical properties are checked. If no deviations in acidity are detected, nutrients are added. Cucumbers are an easy-to-grow crop, but this is no reason to ignore agricultural recommendations. First, apply 2 kg of complex fertilizer per 1 m² of soil. The soil is loosened and dug over. If any vegetable diseases were observed last season, the soil is additionally treated with a saturated solution of potassium permanganate.

Fans of natural fertilizers who are dissatisfied with traditional phosphorus-based chemicals turn to manure. Apply 1.5 buckets per square meter. In unstable climates or particularly heavy soils, mineral fertilizers are used. Add 1 bucket per square meter. The next step is:

  • the distance between holes is 20 cm, and between rows – 35-40 cm;
  • in a small greenhouse, the vegetable is planted in a checkerboard pattern;
  • the depth of the hole is 15-20 cm;
  • 2.5 tablespoons of complex liquid fertilizer are placed on the bottom;
  • Plant 2 seeds in each hole and cover it with soil.

Water the seedlings and continue to observe. The first shoots appear after 1-1.5 weeks.

Greenhouse cucumber care: secrets to a bountiful harvest
To get a bountiful cucumber harvest, you need to properly care for the crop. The key to successful vegetable growing is proper planting, moderate watering, timely pinching of side shoots,…

Caring for seedlings

Regular watering is the key to a good harvest. The chosen planting dates for cucumbers inside a greenhouse dictate subsequent watering requirements. In a temperate climate, the standard is 5 liters per square meter. In southern regions, this increases to 8 liters, while in northern regions, it decreases to 3 liters per square meter. Water the roots, ensuring that moisture does not reach the leaves. Water the plants once every 4-5 days. Initially, check the soil moisture level at a depth of 10-15 cm. If the soil is dry, water the cucumbers more frequently.

Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply up to five applications of a mixture of organic and mineral fertilizers. Before flowering, use liquid nutrient mixtures. Use 2 tablespoons per 10 liters of water. Apply 300 ml per plant. Once flowering begins, use 1 teaspoon of the following ingredients per 10 liters of water:

  • potassium sulfate;
  • urea;
  • superphosphate;
  • "Effekton - O".

The application rate for each planting is 400-500 ml. Fertilizing is done according to the waxing moon phase. During fruiting, do not apply nutrients during the full moon or during unfavorable days. At other times, prepare the fertilizer according to the following recipe:

  • 10 liters of water;
  • 2 tablespoons of "Effekton-O";
  • 1 tablespoon of nitrophoska.

5 liters of solution are used per square meter. The procedure is repeated every 7 days. In addition to fertilizing, the bushes are trained inside the greenhouse. This work begins 14 days after planting. The bushes are secured to the trellis using twine.

Note!
The top loop is made loose so that the gradually thickening stem does not get damaged.

The bush is trained into a single stem. Up to five full-fledged leaves are removed from the axils, along with any leaves and shoots. The top of the bush is always pinched. Once the bush is fully trained, the main stem reaches 35 cm in length, but no more than 45 cm. The growing point is pinched when the main stem reaches 70 cm in length.

Potential difficulties

Professionals are always prepared for unforeseen situations. They arise even when all planting dates and all agricultural recommendations are followed. After selecting planting dates for a newly constructed greenhouse, preventative measures are taken. The soil is always dug and loosened. Those who forget this will face the first potential difficulty. As soon as warm weather arrives, pests and pathogens hidden in the soil become active. The second difficulty is choosing poor-quality seed. This problem cannot be resolved. If the harvest is irretrievably lost, the remains are disposed of. Other potential difficulties:

  • too dense planting;
  • excess or lack of water;
  • lack of sunlight;
  • insufficient thermal insulation of the greenhouse.

These potential complications are resolved with prompt intervention. First, they check to see if the problem is caused by overcrowding, and then they get to work. If everything is done quickly and correctly, the harvest is saved.

When sowing cucumber seeds in a greenhouse in the Moscow region, pay attention to the lunar calendar and climate conditions. Choose a crispy cucumber variety that tolerates changeable weather. Check the soil characteristics and the quality of the greenhouse. Attention to detail reduces the likelihood of problems.
