A successful flower garden is typically associated with a sun-drenched meadow, buzzing bees, and vibrant flowers. However, beyond the "hot" southern part of the garden, there are other, equally vibrant plots of land. One of them is located on the opposite side. Experts, without much thought, sum it up quite succinctly with two words: cool and shaded. We've decided to offer advice on what to plant in the shade at your dacha. In our article, you'll learn which plants grow best in shaded areas.
By the way, read about it, How to develop a 6-acre dacha plot.
To make the front garden on the north side of the house as hassle-free as possible, it's best to primarily use decorative conifers when decorating it.
Namely:
1. Mountain pine.
2. Dwarf trees (for example, Siberian pine – Pinus pumila).
3. Spruce:
- blue;
- silver.
4. Junipers:
- Cossack;
- horizontal.
5. Western thuja with a spherical and/or vertical crown.
6. Microbiota.
Experts strongly recommend avoiding symmetry when planning plantings.

Techniques that can be used to achieve this goal:
1. One tree at each vertex of the triangle (its sides should be of different lengths), with the tallest one in the background.
2. Place deciduous shrubs (upright) among the conifers.
3. Use herbaceous plants of different heights (perennials).
4. Plant just one coniferous tree (the same microbiota grows quickly) and shade it with perennials.
5. Play with different crown shapes of the thuja (alternate rounded and linear).
Flowers with small bulbs are planted between trees directly in the grass.

And some owners make do with only climbing plants:
- hops;
- honeysuckle (goat's or fragrant honeysuckle);
– maiden grapes (Parthenocissus). The latter, without pollination, produces small black berries (though completely inedible).
Viburnum, rowan, and rose hips will add vibrant colors, while arancus adds a touch of delicacy. These plants are best placed in the center of a coniferous triangle, or even more often in the foreground of the "decoration." Hostas and bergenia form a border. Erythronium (dog's tooth) and anemone will delight in early spring as primroses. Scilla and galanthus (snowdrops) are also generally unproblematic.
Now you know what to plant on the north side of your property. The result is a charming, decorative plot of land that pleases the eye almost year-round.

We have this same problem, but we usually plant our dacha with all sorts of fruits and vegetables, and nothing grows there. I guess I should give up on any dreams of a big harvest there. But creating a decorative plot is also a very good idea; after all, you can't always work at the dacha; you need to relax sometimes. And thanks to your advice, I'll make it the perfect place to relax and definitely plant a pine tree. We often celebrate New Year's at the dacha, and then there won't be a need for a Christmas tree—all this beauty will be in the yard, so on the one hand, it's a good thing that vegetables don't thrive there.
