Nowadays, you don't have to go to the forest to have mycelium on your table. You can grow a decent harvest in your own garden by following the rules of planting, watering, and care. All you need is to properly cultivate the mycelium at your dacha in the fall. Specialty stores also sell prepared mycelium. However, this product isn't cheap, so it's a good idea to verify its quality.
Methods and techniques for growing mushrooms
There are two methods for growing mushrooms outside forested areas: extensive and intensive. Extensive cultivation involves growing mushrooms in a garden plot, in a natural environment, on a specially prepared bed. Intensive cultivation involves setting up a basement, a special room, or a balcony. The latter is most often used when preparing mushrooms for sale. Therefore, ordinary people are more interested in growing mushrooms for themselves.

- disputes;
- mycelium;
- mycelium.
When spores fall to the ground, mycelium begins to form. The key to mushrooms is soil, which will support the mycelium and ensure consistent moisture. You can bring soil from the forest where the mushroom patch is located or prepare it yourself. Composting takes some time, as the entire process takes 20-24 days.
Preparing the soil for growing mushrooms
Select a location for the mycelium. The soil composition should be similar to forest soil. Prepare the topsoil. In nature, mycelium grows near tree roots, which secrete carbohydrates and amino acids. Therefore, remove soil near coniferous or deciduous trees, 0.7 m from the trunk. Dig a trench 25-30 cm deep and 40 cm wide. Fill the hole with crushed stone or broken brick to a depth of 8-10 cm. Add freshly mown grass, compost, and slurry. Slurry is a mixture of half horse or cow manure, filled to the brim with water. Let it sit for 5-7 days.

- 1 kg of manure (horse or cow);
- 35 g ammonium nitrate;
- 20 g superphosphate.
Stir the mixture every 4-5 days for one month. Then, fill the trench to create a 30-cm-high bed. Make staggered holes every 15 cm and plant the mycelium at a depth of 5 cm. Keep moist with rainwater from a watering can. After 2-3 weeks, the mycelium will grow. Top with a 5-10 cm layer of sand and sawdust in equal parts. Continue watering until the mushroom harvest is ripe.
Preparing for growing oyster mushrooms
Oyster mushrooms grow on birch logs (they can also be found on aspen, willow, and pine trees) or stumps. If the mycelium was purchased on wood plugs, drill holes or make cuts. Place the mushroom mixture in the prepared area and cover with sawdust. Cover with plastic wrap to retain moisture. Press the edges of the film firmly to prevent it from lifting.

This promotes germination of the oyster mushrooms. Watering the soil after removing the film is essential. If planted in May, a harvest will occur within 3-4 months. One stump can produce mushrooms for 6-7 years. After that, it will rot and need to be replaced. This method can be used not only for growing oyster mushrooms in a garden plot but also in a basement.
Modern research and experimentation make it possible to enjoy mushrooms without trudging through miles of forest searching. They can be easily grown in a garden bed or stump. However, don't plant a large mushroom patch right away. Perhaps your soil or conditions aren't suitable for mushroom growing. Try planting a sample. And with luck, you'll be the owner of a magnificent mushroom field, created with your own hands.
