Geranium is not only a beautiful plant, but also a folk remedy for diseases.

Geranium

Many women love geranium for its beauty and magnificent flowering, but this plant is not only beautiful, it is also medicinal. Over its centuries-long history, it has repeatedly proven its effectiveness in the treatment of various ailments.

Geranium leaves contain tannins, which in turn can destroy harmful microorganisms. These substances are used to treat gastrointestinal disorders and are taken as a medicinal infusion. Geranium also contains oil, which can be used as a sedative.

Medicinal recipes with geranium

Treatment of hypertension

Take one leaf of the plant and crush it thoroughly, then apply it to your wrist where your pulse is felt. After 10 minutes, you'll notice a dramatic result: your blood pressure will stabilize.

Geranium for radiculitis

Geranium can also treat radiculitis or osteochondrosis. All you need to do is crush the petals to a paste-like consistency and apply them to the affected area for an hour. Then remove, wiping the area with a cloth soaked in warm water. The pain will subside.

For hemorrhoids or toothache

To treat these ailments, crush and grind a geranium leaf and apply it to hemorrhoids or to the cheek for toothache. If you have ear pain, say, due to an ear infection, apply the mixture to the ear.

Relieving inflammation

Geranium can also help with inflammatory processes in different parts of the body, and quite effectively.

Treatment of constipation

To get rid of constipation, do the following:

  • grind the leaves and stems to a pulp;
  • place 2 spoons of porridge in half a liter of water;
  • Bring the broth to a boil and wait until it cools;
  • Let the decoction steep for 8 hours.

The prepared geranium tincture should be drunk within 24 hours, constipation should subside.

Treatment of problem skin

If you're bothered by acne, skin inflammation, and similar issues, you should make a mask. To do this, you'll need three leaves of the plant, blend them into a smooth paste, and add one tablespoon of sour cream.

The resulting mixture is applied to a pre-cleaned and prepared face and should remain on the face for one-quarter of an hour, after which it should be washed off with warm water.

This mask can be used once daily, but it's a good idea to test your skin's sensitivity first. Apply a small amount of the mixture to the inside of your elbow and observe your skin's reaction. If it becomes red or itchy, you're allergic to the plant's ingredients.

About the oil properties of geranium

The healing properties of plants from the geranium family have long been known to humanity; in fact, the oil from this plant is very often used in cosmetology. Geranium has a wide range of beneficial effects. Women have used this plant to normalize their menstrual cycles and treat headaches. Geranium also promotes the rapid recovery of damaged tissues caused by frostbite or burns.

It can also cleanse the skin, reduce inflammation, or unclog pores. If you wash your face with water infused with geranium oil, it's important to keep the oil content low, no more than 1 gram. Geranium oil will be even more effective when combined with other oils, such as:

  • jasmine;
  • orange;
  • lemon;
  • lavender.

This miraculous oil can be purchased or made at home. You'll need just 50 grams of leaves, which you crush with a wooden rolling pin. However, remember that iron utensils are not suitable. Pour the finished oil into a 0.5-liter glass jar and strain it to ensure the leaf pulp is completely covered with oil.

Contraindications

Treatment with geranium is not suitable for:

  • during pregnancy;
  • for chronic gastrointestinal diseases;
  • for allergies;
  • for diseases in which the blood becomes thicker (since geranium will thicken it even more).
