Cucumber hybrid "Nastya f1": planting, growing, and care instructions

Cucumbers

The early-ripening, self-pollinating hybrid "Nastya f1" is suitable for planting in open ground, plastic, and glass greenhouses. It bears fruit from June to September. In Russia, the "Nastya f1" variety can be grown anywhere. It's important to note that in the southern regions, it's planted in the ground, while in the northern regions, it's grown in greenhouses. The variety's description indicates that the vegetable has a strong immune system. The central shoot grows unrestricted, branching and lateral growth are weak, and the main harvest is produced on the central stem, requiring little or no shaping. Reviews with photographs confirm the high yield and excellent taste.

Characteristics of the variety

The vigorous bush consists of a solid central trunk and short lateral stems. The Nastya f1 variety yields 14 kg per square meter in open ground and up to 30 kg per square meter in a greenhouse.

Characteristics of a cucumber bush:

  • parthenocarpic;
  • female-type flowering;
  • tall;
  • stems are shortened;
  • moderate climbing;
  • there are 5-6 cucumbers in one node;
  • ripening in 38-40 days.

Fruit characteristics:

  • length 7-9 cm;
  • type of gherkin;
  • weight 80-100 g;
  • the shape is elongated, oval;
  • diameter 2-3 cm;
  • the skin is bright green, with light stripes at the top;
  • no bitter aftertaste;
  • the pulp is without voids, dense;
  • small tubercles and white pubescence.

The advantages of the variety include: high productivity, long fruiting period, resistance to temperature changes and an attractive appearance.

The "Nastya f1" variety is resistant to olive spot, cucumber mosaic virus, and powdery mildew. This result is due to the successful work of breeders. Protection against other diseases requires specialized treatments.

The disadvantages of this variety include the importance and regularity of fertilizing.

Note!
Chemical treatment after flowering is not safe for human health. Therefore, all treatments should be carried out only before flowering.

Preparation of seed material

The hybrid variety "Nastya f1" is grown using seedlings and direct-seeded soil. When grown in a greenhouse, the harvest is 15 days earlier. Plant on a flat, sunny side, protected from drafts.

Seeds for seedlings are sown at different times, depending on the region:

  • in the south – the first weeks of March;
  • in the temperate zone – mid-April;
  • in the northern regions – the last week of April.

Choose spacious peat pots; they provide additional fertilizer and protect the roots from injury, as they don't need to be removed when repotting. Plant the seeds 20 mm deep in warm soil at least 20°C (68°F) and cover with plastic wrap. The first shoots appear in 7-10 days. Water the seedlings with warm water at least once a week. Moisten with warm, settled water, and prevent the soil from becoming waterlogged.

Planting and care rules for seedlings

Cucumbers require warmth; low temperatures are detrimental, weakening the plants and causing them to die. Seedlings are planted when there is no longer any risk of frost. This occurs in early June in the north and early April in the south. The soil for planting should be prepared in advance, with compost or manure added at a rate of 5 kg per square meter and a mixture of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The manure is mixed with water at a ratio of 1:5 and left to soak for 5-6 days. Fertilizer applied in the fall accelerates the growth of the vegetable, with leaves appearing within 6 days. If the plant remains weak, the first feeding should be done earlier.

Planting recommendations:

  • use a scheme of 3-4 plants per 1 sq. m;
  • the depth of each hole is no more than 3-4 cm;
  • the distance between holes is 50-60 cm;
  • 1.5 tablespoons of complex fertilizer are placed in each hole;
  • place the seeds, cover them and compact them;
  • After planting, the first watering is carried out.

Water the plant 1-2 times a week, or 3-4 times in hot weather, using 4-9 liters of water per square meter. To increase yield, pinch out the lateral shoots: 4 lower ovaries and 2 lateral stems. Best results are achieved when tied to a vertical support.

Note!
During flowering, watering is reduced and carried out strictly at the root, so as not to break the fragile shoots and not damage the ovary.

Types of feeding

A week after repotting, apply the first fertilizer. This should be done at least three times during the growing season. Fertilizer choices include:

  • organic fertilizers;
  • ready-made vitamin and mineral complexes (Dobraya Sila, Zdraven, Sudarushka, Energen);
  • foliar care.

Spraying is carried out between basic fertilizers, especially in rainy weather and when the soil lacks micronutrients. Nitrogen-containing fertilizers are beneficial for young seedlings. Potassium and phosphorus compounds strengthen the ovary. Copper sulfate can be used during flowering.

Reviews

Maria

My neighbors at the dacha recommended planting this variety of cucumbers. I tried them and fell in love with them forever. They're so neat, small, bumpy, and thornless. The taste is wonderful; I haven't had any bitter or hollow cucumbers. The gherkins are perfect for winter preserves. Now they're table centerpieces.

I've had the Nastya variety in my garden for many years. I have no complaints. All the seeds germinate on time, and the plants are strong. They grow steadily, produce excellent fruit, and are disease-free. The cucumbers are easy to care for. They grow tasty, crisp, and small, perfect for pickling.

Lyudmila

I'm not a big fan of store-bought seeds, but Nastya decided to take a chance on this variety, and I haven't regretted it for a minute. I grew seedlings, so I got an early harvest. I fertilized twice, but I still got a good harvest.

Thanks to its early ripening and high yield, the "Nastya f1" variety is grown not only in garden plots but also on farms. Its excellent flavor and pickling qualities are in demand. It is used for pickling and canning.
