Hybrid cucumber variety "Break f1": solid advantages

Cucumbers

The hybrid cucumber "Break F1" is a self-pollinating variety developed by the Russian company "Gabrish." A description of the vegetable is included in the Unified State Register. It can be sown in both greenhouses and open ground. Gardeners' reviews confirm the variety's characteristics, suggesting the first harvest can be achieved 40-45 days after germination. Planting and growing "Break F1" is possible for personal consumption and for subsequent sale. A ripe fruit can be seen in the photo.

Characteristics of the variety

This mid-season hybrid is characterized by moderate branching. Each bush produces a few leaves. Most of the nutrients are devoted to fruit development. The medium-sized, dark green leaves have a smooth surface. Gardeners pay attention to the large number of ovaries formed on the bushes. Regular, abundant root feeding helps increase yield. Other characteristics of the "Break F1" hybrid variety:

  • correct cylindrical shape of the fruit;
  • the surface of the cucumber is covered with many medium-sized tubercles;
  • the average weight of a ripe fruit does not exceed 100 g;
  • length does not exceed 10-12 cm;
  • the thin skin is covered with barely noticeable lateral stripes;
  • frequent pronounced prolapses;
  • crispy flesh;
  • standard taste without bitterness;
  • immunity to powdery mildew, downy mildew, root rot.

Cucumber "Break F1" is suitable for salads and slicing, for pickling and canning.

Note!
Regular preventative treatment of seedlings with biologically active products reduces the likelihood of insect pests. Protective treatments are performed once every 7 days.

Seedling and non-seedling growing methods

The choice of planting technique for the "Break F1" hybrid variety depends on the gardener's skill level and the local climate. If the weather is unpredictable, the seedling method is the preferred method. This method will yield a bountiful harvest even in colder regions, but will require more time for picking and transplanting. Initial planting is done in spacious containers filled with a nutrient-rich mixture. This can be purchased at a gardening supply store. The procedure is as follows:

  • the seedlings are moved into prepared pots;
  • the plants are watered and covered with film;
  • Every 2-3 days the seedlings are watered, after making sure that the moisture from the soil has been absorbed by the bush;
  • The plant can be transplanted to a permanent location after 25 days, having first checked that the soil temperature is consistently above + 12 C + 14 C.

Two days before planting the prepared seedlings in the greenhouse, the soil is dug and loosened. Its pH level is checked. It should be between 6 and 7 pH, otherwise the plants will not take root.

Seed planting method

In warm climates, seed planting is used. Seeds are purchased and then disinfected. A preventative three-hour soak in a weak potassium permanganate solution will kill any potential pathogens. The second step is immersion in a saturated salt solution. Seeds that sink to the bottom within 25-30 minutes are safe to use. Those that float to the surface are discarded. The third step is immersion of the selected seeds in a growth stimulator. The soaking time is 12 hours.

Note!
The future harvest depends on the quality of soil preparation. In the fall, remove the remains of the previous harvest and till the soil. This procedure is repeated one month before the expected planting. Planting in open ground occurs as soon as the outside temperature is consistently above 20°C.

Growing from seed doesn't require much experience or knowledge. The gardener's job is to protect the seed from temperature shock, fertilize regularly, and water moderately. Another important factor is that, unlike greenhouses, it takes longer to harvest in open ground—up to 1-2 weeks. If you want to be on the safe side, you can first plant the prepared seeds in temporary peat pots. The seeds remain in these pots for 14-16 days. The next step is:

  • the depth of each hole is 5-8 cm;
  • the distance between rows, depending on the area of the plot, ranges from 15 to 30 cm;
  • If there is little free space, the seeds are planted in a checkerboard pattern;
  • the landing site should be protected from drafts;
  • The hybrid variety "Break F1" loves light, so without sufficient sun it will not be possible to get a good harvest.

Immediately after planting, the seeds are buried in soil level with the surrounding soil. Watering is the final step in planting.

Agrotechnical recommendations

Constantly monitoring the moisture level will ensure a healthy root system. Before each subsequent watering, conduct a small test. Insert a dry skewer into the soil 10-15 cm deep. If the soil is damp, do not add water. The recommended watering frequency for the hybrid variety "Break F1" is once every 2-3 days. If a drought occurs, increase watering to once every 1-2 days. This procedure is carried out early in the morning or in the evening, after the sun has passed its peak. After each watering, using room-temperature water, loosen the soil slightly. This procedure will increase the flow of oxygen to the root system.

The minimum daylight duration is 12 hours. If this is not achievable, the hybrid variety "Break F1" is planted in a greenhouse. Daylight lamps are installed inside. The third consideration is related to top dressingIn temperate climates, 2-3 applications of nutrients during the growing season are sufficient. In hot regions, fertilizing is combined with watering. Complex mixtures are used.

Note!
If the weather is harsh, add organic matter every 3-4 days. This nourishes the plant and generates the necessary heat to protect the root system from the cold.

Seedlings are threatened by diseases and pests

Gardeners often go to extremes. Some believe the vegetable has sufficient immunity to resist pests and pathogens. Opponents insist that the plants must be watered with all kinds of chemicals to protect them. Both camps are mistaken. The hybrid variety does indeed have good immunity, but this is no reason to abandon preventative measures using biologically active substances. "Break F1," like any other cucumber, actively absorbs nutrients from the soil. If there is an excess of pesticides, the fruits will not taste good.

Seedlings are at risk for fungal diseases. Overwatering, which can lead to root rot, can trigger these. A sudden cold snap or the use of planting material of questionable quality can also negatively impact the plant's immunity. Preventative treatment of seedlings with Bordeaux mixture 4 to 6 times during the growing season will help prevent this. The likelihood of insect pests can be reduced by introducing ladybugs to the area.

Reviews

Vladimir

I harvest the harvested fruit immediately. The longer the fruit hangs on the bush, the worse its flavor. I store it in boxes in the cellar. I spread them out in an even layer and cover them.

Veronica

A good variety for moderate to warm climates. Heat and cold reduce survival rates. I feed the seedlings with nitrogen-containing fertilizers. I use 2.5 kg per square meter.

Pauline

One of the variety's drawbacks is the inability to obtain seeds. They must always be purchased. Another drawback is that even minor changes in humidity or light levels immediately slow down the plant's growth.

The hybrid variety "Break F1" is the result of breeding work by Russian botanists. This vegetable doesn't require insect pollinators, making it suitable for both greenhouse and open-field cultivation. The first harvest is 42-45 days after germination. The average yield reaches 9-10 kg per square meter. This variety is suitable for canning, salads, and pickling. It is grown for personal consumption, as the fruits have a short shelf life. They cannot be sold commercially.
