Ingredients:
- apples – 500 g;
- water – 100 ml;
- sugar – 500 g.
How to make apple jam for the winter
Wash the apples thoroughly under water, peel them, remove the cores and seeds, and don't forget to remove the stems. Slice the apples into thin slices.
Select a saucepan for cooking the jam. It should have a thick bottom, and preferably not enamel. Once you've selected a saucepan for cooking the jam, pour in the required amount of water and add the sliced apples.
Place the saucepan over low heat. Once the apples begin to boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for a while until they're just slightly soft. Afterward, let the contents cool slightly and then mince them. This should be easy, as the apples will be very soft. Return the apple mixture to the saucepan.
Add sugar.
Cook over low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring constantly, preferably with a long wooden spoon or spatula. If the jam hasn't thickened much during this time, you can cook it a little longer.
After the jam has cooked, place it in sterile glass jars and seal the lids.
Turn the jars upside down and let them cool completely. It's best to store the jam in a cool pantry.
