Amazing apple jam with barberry – kids will definitely love it
Our housewives will come up with anything to surprise. And this step-by-step recipe with photos is no exception. At first glance, it looks like ordinary apple jam. But the highlight of this dish is the "Barberry" candies. They give the jam a reddish color, making it look like marmalade, and it also has a very unusual taste.
This jam is perfect for baking. It also tastes delicious with a fresh loaf of bread or white bread. Let's get started.
Ingredients:
- apples – 3 kg;
- sugar - 1 kg;
- barberries - 250 g;
- water -100 g.
How to make apple jam with Barberry candies
Wash the apples, peel them, and cut them into medium-sized pieces. The type of apple doesn't matter: sweet or sour apples will work just fine. However, if the apples are juicy and soft, you won't need to add any water. Place the apple pieces in a thick-walled saucepan or bowl. Set the heat to medium. Add water if the apples aren't juicy.
Cook covered. After 15-20 minutes, the apples will begin to soften into a puree. Stir occasionally throughout this time.
Simmer the apples until they become puree. Then add sugar.
Simmer for another 15 minutes. The jam will begin to bubble and pop. Be careful not to burn yourself. You can cover it with a lid, but don't cover it completely. Now it's time for the barberries. Remove their wrappers.
And we send it to the jam.
Stir and cook until completely dissolved. Stir the jam frequently at this point to prevent it from burning.
Next, pour the hot jam into clean, dry jars. The lids should also be sterile. Turn the jars upside down and leave them until completely cool. It's best to store them in a cellar or cool place.
Bon appetit.
