Spring forecast for each region – from weather forecasters and folk omens

News

Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth, when nature awakens from its winter slumber. The days grow longer, the sun begins to shine more warmly, and the first buds appear on the trees. The air fills with the scent of flowers and greenery, and birds return from warmer climates and begin to sing their songs.

It's also a time when people begin to feel more energetic and alive. They go outside, enjoy the warmth and sunshine, and stroll through parks and squares where everything begins to bloom and turn green. The spring atmosphere fills people's hearts with joy and hope, making them forget the winter cold and early darkness.

However, spring can also bring some challenges, such as floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. During this period, it's necessary to be especially cautious and attentive to weather changes to avoid potential dangers.

Despite this, most people love this time of year for its freshness, beauty, and the opportunity to start anew. It's a time when you can forget about depression and begin to enjoy each new day. It's a symbol of rebirth and hope, inspiring people to new achievements and accomplishments.

With the arrival of the New Year, spring always seems to arrive, but in most regions of Russia, it doesn't even arrive until March 1st. Unfortunately, this is true, and only southerners can boast of such a thing. Moreover, even April can be cold. This year's forecast is quite anomalous.

We're used to it, though... In recent years, the weather in Russia has become extremely unpredictable, reminiscent of a capricious woman with a fickle mood. This peculiarity will also manifest itself in the coming spring, which arrives in less than a month. With each passing day, the time until winter ends is getting shorter.

Spring

We were just recently preparing for New Year 2024, and now we're already thinking about what kind of weather awaits us in spring. Most forecasters can't yet accurately predict what will happen in March-May, but they're confident that the start of the season will be relatively warm (at least in some way) across the board. However, it's too early to celebrate, and we'll tell you why.

Changeable March

According to the Hydrometeorological Center, the weather in early March will be sunny and warm across most of Russia. However, caution is advised, as frosts, snowfalls, and strong winds are expected from mid-month.

March

This is especially true in regions of the Central Federal District, such as Moscow, the Moscow region, Tver, Ryazan, Tula, Vladimir, and Kaluga, where temperatures could drop to minus 4-6 degrees Celsius. And it will get even colder at night.

These days will be cold, cloudy, and windy across northwestern Russia. Temperatures are expected to drop to -6-8°C during the day and down to -10°C at night, along with snowfall in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, Pskov, Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Petrozavodsk, and Murmansk.

Winter temperatures are expected in mid-March in the far north of the country and in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. For example, temperatures of -30°C are forecast in Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, -35°C in Yakutsk and Dudinka, and down to -40°C in Evenkia.

Residents of the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East will also be surprised by the weather in March. The second half of the first month of spring isn't expected to be unusually cold, but heavy snowfalls are possible, which could put a damper on any springtime vibes.

In mid-March, unusual weather is expected in the south of the country—no frost or snowfall, but no true spring thaw. Regions such as Rostov, the North Caucasus republics, Stavropol, and Krasnodar Krai will remain warm.

Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected in the cities of Stavropol, Pyatigorsk, Mineralnye Vody, and Kislovodsk. Heavy precipitation and sea storms are possible in Novorossiysk, Adler, Anapa, Sochi, and neighboring towns in March.

April cataclysms

Russians have been warned of possible climate disasters in April. According to weather forecasters, frosts, heavy hail, and strong winds are expected in mid-spring.

April

In April 2024, residents of northwestern and central Russia, the Black Earth Region, and the Volga region will experience variable cloud cover, frequent rain, and fluctuating temperatures. Moscow, Vladimir, Ryazan, as well as St. Petersburg, Novgorod, and Pskov will experience similar conditions.

Weather forecasts for the coming days predict heavy rain, hail, and strong winds for the cities of Voronezh, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Kazan, Samara, Yoshkar-Ola, and Cheboksary.

Residents of the southern regions of the Russian Plain, however, should expect more pleasant conditions, with the air warming evenly to the climatic norm.

Unkind May

Forecasters are warning of possible sharp temperature changes, as well as gusty winds onshore and storms at sea along the coast. Russians are in for a harsh May, with the climate situation set to continue to surprise them into late spring.

May

If precipitation ceases in regions of the Northwestern Federal District, including St. Petersburg, the Leningrad and Murmansk regions, and Petrozavodsk, and a drought with high temperatures sets in, then cool weather will persist in the central zone.

At the same time, forecasters in the Volga and Black Earth regions are predicting a dry and moderately warm, but not very pleasant May.

For example, in the Samara, Volgograd, and Ulyanovsk regions, temperatures will rise by 12-14 degrees above zero, and in the Voronezh, Tambov, and Lipetsk regions, where a precipitation deficit is expected, temperatures will rise by 14-16 degrees, which is considered high for late spring.

Heavy rains are expected in southern Russia due to the influence of large cyclonic air masses. Kuban, Stavropol, and the North Caucasus republics are expected to experience torrential rains from late spring to early summer.
