Ingredients (for a three-liter jar):
- plums – 500-600 g;
- sugar – 150 g;
- water – 2500 ml;
- cinnamon - a pinch;
How to make plum compote for the winter
Simply wash the jar thoroughly; there's no need to sterilize it, as we'll be putting unwashed fruit in it. Place the lid in the saucepan and boil for five minutes. It's worth noting that cinnamon isn't necessary for the compote. However, this spice brings out a whole new side of the drink's flavor. Therefore, you can make one jar of classic plum compote and one with a flavorful addition. Wash the plums, select any unsuitable ones, and discard them. Using a knife, cut each plum in half and remove the pits.
Fill a third of the jar with plum halves.
Pour boiling water over the plums for a quarter of an hour.
Then, add the cinnamon to the drained water. Bring to a boil and add 150g of sugar. Taste the syrup for sugar, adding more if needed.
Now we can pour it into the jar to the very top.
We roll up the finished plum compote with lids.
