Apple and chokeberry compote - delicious and healthy

This drink is more relevant now than ever, as the cold weather has arrived and the immune system needs a boost. The recipe for this healthy apple and chokeberry compote for the winter is very simple. You'll need very little time and a minimum of readily available ingredients. The preparation doesn't require repeated boiling or long steeping.
The ingredients listed below are for a 3-liter jar.
Ingredients:
- 3 liters of water,
- 400 – 500 grams of apples,
- chokeberry – 300 gr.,
- sugar – 300 gr.
How to make apple and chokeberry compote
Peel the apples, slice them, and remove the seeds. Place the sliced apples in a 3-liter jar. Choose the variety based on your taste preferences. Do not peel the apples.
Add the prepared rowan berries. They should be carefully sorted and washed before use. You can use either fresh or frozen berries.
Pour boiling water over the mixture and let it steep for about 10-15 minutes. Be sure to cover with a lid. This effectively sterilizes the fruit. During this time, the water will turn pink due to the juices in the berries.
Pour sugar into a saucepan, drain the liquid from the jar, and bring to a boil. Bring the drink to a boil, stir thoroughly, and let it simmer for about a couple of minutes after boiling. Sweeten it if desired.
Pour the boiling liquid back into the jar, plus add boiling water to the top if the jar is not completely full, and close the lid tightly.
It's recommended to turn filled jars upside down and wrap them in a warm blanket or thick towel. Store the cooled jars in a cool, dark place.
This apple-flavored drink, with a slight sourness, will please any member of the family—both adults and children.
