To prepare gooseberry and orange jam for the winter, use no-cook recipes with photos. Cooking destroys the berries' healing properties, so to preserve maximum benefits, simmering the jam for an hour isn't necessary. Without cooking, the jam has the same shelf life and won't spoil for a year or more.

Classic recipe

This treat makes a delicious accompaniment to tea, and can be served with fresh pastries and even regular bread. Its noble emerald color will whet the appetite of even the pickiest of eaters.

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg gooseberries;
  • 4-5 oranges;
  • 2 kilograms of granulated sugar;
  • teaspoon of citric acid.

Preparation:

The berries are carefully sorted, soaked in water for a couple of hours, and the stems are trimmed. The berries are then placed in a colander to drain off excess water. The oranges are washed and cut into wedges, leaving the peels on. The wedges should be at least 2 millimeters thick.

Using a blender or meat grinder, puree the ingredients until smooth. Add sugar and citric acid.

The mixture is kept in the refrigerator or on the balcony for 3-4 hours, then divided into sterilized jars and sealed with airtight lids. The finished product is stored in a cool place with a temperature no higher than 15 degrees Celsius.

Note!

You can try the delicacy immediately after it has cooled down a little.

With lemon

If you're looking for a more tart flavor, lemon is a great choice. It pairs beautifully with berries and adds a vibrant aroma. It's best to use overripe lemons with thin skins—their zest won't be bitter.

Compound:

  • kg of berries;
  • 2 oranges;
  • 1-2 lemons;
  • 4 cups of granulated sugar.

Preparation:

Rinse the gooseberries with water and put them through a meat grinder to form a paste. Don't worry about excess juice—it will disappear with the addition of sugar.

Wash the lemon and oranges, cut them into small pieces, and remove the seeds. Then, grind the citrus pieces in a meat grinder and mix them into the berry puree.

Finally, add sugar and stir well again. The treat is ready to eat and stored.

Gooseberry and Orange "Five Minutes"

Another quick preparation method is quick cooking. This means heating the mixture but not allowing it to boil for a long time. This preserves the beneficial properties of the gooseberries, and the jam becomes more viscous.

Compound:

  • 0.5-0.6 kg of granulated sugar;
  • ½ glass of water;
  • gooseberries – 1 kg;
  • oranges – 2 pcs.;
  • 1/1 tsp vanillin.

Preparation:

The berries, after removing the stems, are pierced with a toothpick so that they cook faster and release juice.

Grind the oranges, peel and all, in a meat grinder until smooth. Heat a saucepan of water and add the sugar and vanilla. Over time, the sugar will begin to melt and thicken.

Add the orange puree and berries to the syrup, stir, and wait until the mixture begins to boil. Once boiling, remove the gooseberries with a slotted spoon and let the syrup cool slightly. Then repeat the process twice.

The hot jam is poured into jars and allowed to cool at room temperature.

Note!

Before cutting the oranges, they are lightly crushed in the hands.

A simple way to prepare gooseberries and oranges for the winter

To save time mixing the ingredients, you can add them all at once. Blending this treat is much faster than grinding it. This recipe takes no more than 10 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • gooseberries - about 1 kg;
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar;
  • 2 oranges;
  • 1/2 tsp citric acid.

How to cook:

Rinse the berries thoroughly under running water, then drain in a colander. Trim off the stems and stalks, and sprinkle sugar over the berries in a large container.

Wash the oranges and cut them into 8-10 pieces, remove the seeds, and add them to the gooseberries and sugar.

Use an immersion blender to blend the contents of the cup until the mixture is smooth. Add citric acid, stir, and pour the finished product into the prepared container.

With whole berries

The berries hold their shape well and don't deform, making the jam quite appetizing. Large and medium-sized berries are used for this jam.

Compound:

  • gooseberries – 2 kg;
  • oranges -3 pcs.
  • 1.5 kg of granulated sugar;
  • tsp citric acid;
  • 1/2 cup water.

Preparation:

Wash the gooseberries and divide them into three parts. Mash one part with sugar until the juice begins to flow. Add water to the mixture.

The remaining gooseberries are soaked in water and the pulp is pierced in 2-3 different places. The clean oranges are grated on a fine grater or put through a meat grinder.

Pour the water with the mashed berries into a saucepan and add the oranges. Heat the mixture on the stove. When it boils, add the whole berries for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat.

Once the mixture has cooled, heat again until it boils. Don't allow the jam to boil; stop heating as soon as the first bubbles appear on the surface. The finished jam will have a thick consistency and a rich color.

Adviсe

This delicacy is sure to be a success, and even novice cooks can confidently attempt it. If you follow a few simple tips, a delicious result is guaranteed:

  • For jam, choose ripe berries, but do not choose overripe fruits - they begin to ferment over time;
  • Small jars with a capacity of 200 to 1000 ml are ideal for storing the preparation. They are pre-sterilized at a high temperature (at least 80 degrees);
  • Gooseberries contain seeds, which can be removed by rubbing the berries through a sieve.

With just a little time and effort, you'll have a complete dessert to savor on long winter evenings. The key is to let it sit until winter, as most people eat it right away within a couple of days over tea, down to the last drop.
