Raspberry compote with apples - I love it
We offer you a great alternative to store-bought carbonated drinks. Prepare this delicious raspberry and apple compote for the winter, and you'll never want to buy those unhealthy store-bought drinks again. The compote turns out a rich red color. The raspberry flavor is, of course, dominant, but there's also a subtle apple note.
The quantities of ingredients in this step-by-step recipe with photos are for one 3-liter jar. Sugar in the compote serves as a preservative, so don't reduce the amount. For extra safety, add another 0.5 teaspoon of citric acid to prevent spoilage, and don't forget to sterilize it.
The raspberry variety doesn't matter. The main thing is that it's free of debris, rot, and worms.
Ingredients:
- raspberries - 300g;
- apples -3 pcs.;
- sugar -300g;
- citric acid -0.5 tsp;
- water.
How to prepare raspberry and apple compote for the winter
First, sort the raspberries. Only whole, undamaged berries are suitable for compote. If the berries are dusty, rinse them very carefully under running water.
Wash the apples thoroughly. Cut them into medium-sized slices and remove the cores.
The compote jar should also be thoroughly washed with baking soda. Then, add the prepared apples to the clean jar.
Then add the raspberries.
Then add the required amount of sugar and citric acid to the jar.
Fill to the top with clean, cold water.
Cover the jar with a lid for canning.
Now we'll sterilize the jar in a deep saucepan. Fill it with water up to the shoulders and place it on the stove. After it boils, sterilize the compote for 15 minutes.
Then we roll up the jars with the compote, turn them upside down, and wrap them up. Store the compote in a cool, dark place.
Bon appetit.
