Ingredients:
- tomatoes – 700 g;
- water - 500 g;
- carrot tops – 5-6 sprigs;
- sugar – 2 tbsp;
- salt – 0.5 tbsp;
- vinegar 9% - 1 tbsp.
How to prepare tomatoes with carrot tops for the winter
Wash the jars with baking soda, rinse several times with clean water, then sterilize them: place them over a pan of boiling water. A metal colander or a special sterilization ring will work for this. Let the sterilized jars cool slightly.
Place washed and dried carrot tops on the bottom of the jar.
Place a thick layer of tomatoes on top. It's best to use small tomatoes so they'll spread easily in the jar.
Boil water, pour it over the tomatoes in the jar, cover with a lid and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Drain the water and make a marinade: bring the water back to a boil, add salt and sugar. Pour in the vinegar and wait until bubbles appear on the surface. Turn off the heat and remove the marinade from the stove.
Pour the hot marinade over the tomatoes and immediately seal with lids.
Turn the jars upside down, wrap them in a warm place, and let them cool completely. You can leave the tomatoes under a blanket overnight.
Store the finished tomatoes with carrot tops in a dark pantry or basement until winter. Enjoy!
