Raised beds
Raised beds look great and are easy to maintain. They can be enclosed with any scrap material—old slate painted with different colors, used bottles, pieces of brick, stone, wood, willow rods, etc. These beds can be made in different sizes and heights, with different borders, and placed in different parts of the garden. Paths between them are covered with lutrasil to prevent weeds from growing, and the top can be decorated with whatever you like—sand, pebbles, and so on.
The bed itself is made like this: first, a trench is dug about 40 cm deep into the area where the bed is supposed to be, then it is covered with lutrasil, various organic materials such as sawdust, paper, unnecessary rags and kitchen scraps are added, a layer of soil is sprinkled on top, watered, and a layer of fertilized soil is added on top, where the vegetable garden will be planted.
The advantage of such a bed is that it warms up faster in the spring, won't become overgrown with weeds, looks neat, and will keep plants warm, as the organic matter buried underneath will gradually rot and provide warmth and nutrients. Therefore, everything in such a bed will sprout faster and grow better. Mole crickets won't get into such a bed, rodents won't get in, it looks beautiful, and it's easy to care for. Vertical beds
You want to fit a lot into a small plot, but there's just no room! So, resourceful gardeners come up with all sorts of solutions. For example, this beautiful strawberry bed takes up minimal space, yet yields as much as a large bed that takes up half the garden.
Or, plant a vertical bed right against the wall—clean, beautiful, and productive. Minimal space and maintenance, yet the harvest is plentiful.
Here's another interesting idea: using wooden beams cut from the inside, you can create a wonderful vertical garden bed—the top layer can be used for colorful lettuce, the second layer for parsley and dill, the third for green onions, and the fourth for basil and cilantro. And there you have it, all ready for salad in a single bed, a meter long and only 50 cm wide. A perfect solution for a small space—right?
Layout
You need to initially decide how you want your plot to look. If you're planning a central bed (it can be beautifully rounded), determine its location. Drive a stake, stretch a string, and outline the edges of the bed along a radius. Radiating from the center, you can outline triangular beds, radiating outward in a circle, creating a beautiful composition, as in the picture below. Consider which vegetables you'll plant in these beds, alternating plants of different colors, heights, and shapes, and the result will be beautiful, creative beds that will inspire gardening achievements instead of tedious daily labor.
Beautifully decorate the borders with any material you like, compact them, and fill the paths – you'll get rid of weeds and create a beautiful landscape that will be pleasing to both you and your guests. It will look especially luxurious amid the lush greenery and blooming plants of summer.
