Pepper variety Butuz - description and main characteristics

Pepper

Many people love sweet, aromatic peppers, both fresh and in various dishes, as they impart an unrivaled flavor to culinary masterpieces. Furthermore, they contain many beneficial vitamins and minerals and are recommended even for dietary purposes.

But not everyone knows how to grow it in their own garden, even though it tastes much better from your own garden.

Description of the variety

The Butuz pepper variety is a mid-early variety, with the first harvest ripening 120-130 days after germination. It is listed in the Russian Federation State Register as suitable for planting in open ground and greenhouses. This means it can be grown even in regions with harsh climates. Besides Russia, it is also grown in Ukraine and Moldova.

Refers to high-yielding varieties, from 1 m2 The pepper yield can be approximately 6-7 kg, although this figure increases in greenhouse conditions. It has spreading bushes reaching 0.7-0.8 m in height, with a strong stem and abundant, standard-sized, dark green leaves.

The cylindrical fruits are light green when technically ripe. They can be harvested and eaten at this stage, or stored until fully ripe. This is a huge advantage if the peppers are grown for commercial use, as it extends their shelf life.

When biologically ripe, it turns bright red. The average fruit weight ranges from 150 to 200 grams, and the pepper walls are 0.7-0.8 cm thick. The flesh is meaty, crisp, and very juicy, boasting excellent flavor.

Butuz peppers can be eaten fresh, added to salads, and other dishes. Cooking preserves their flavor and nutritional properties. They are suitable for freezing for the winter and for various preserves.

Like any variety, Butuz has its pros and cons:

Growing and care

Planting seedlings

This variety can be sown for seedlings as early as February, using 200 ml containers or cups. You can purchase the soil at a gardening store or make your own from soil from your garden, peat, sand, turf, and humus. This mixture should be disinfected by spraying with a weak fungicide solution or baking in the oven at 100°C.0 C.

Important! When processing in the oven, the temperature should not be higher than 100 degrees, this can destroy all the beneficial substances.

If the seeds were collected from last year's harvest, they must be tested for germination. To do this, place them in a 5% salt solution and wait for 5 minutes. Those that float are considered viable, while those that sink are considered viable. After selecting the viable seeds, they are treated with potassium permanganate. Place them in the prepared solution in a cheesecloth bag for 20 minutes. Afterward, rinse and dry the seeds. To speed up germination, soak the seeds in a growth stimulator for 12 hours.

When planting seeds for seedlings, the hole should not be deeper than 2 cm, otherwise the first shoots will appear quickly. After planting the seeds in the soil, watering is essential, using warm, settled water. The container is then covered with plastic film to create a greenhouse effect. The optimal room temperature is considered to be 25-28 degrees Celsius. After the seedlings emerge, remove the plastic film. The seedlings require at least 12 hours of daylight per day, so when it gets dark outside, turn on a pre-installed fluorescent lamp.

The soil should be loosened periodically, for example, with a plastic fork. For the first 14 days, the seedlings need daily watering, but not too much. After that, it's recommended to feed the young seedlings; mineral fertilizers are suitable for this. If the seeds are planted in a common container, they should be pricked out when two true leaves appear. This should be done carefully to avoid damaging the fragile plant.

Bedding

"Butuz" is transplanted to the greenhouse in early May and to the open ground in early June. Holes are dug 40 cm apart, with at least 60 cm between rows. Before planting, compost is added to the holes and the seedlings are watered with warm water. Stake stakes are also planted along with the seedlings for tying them up later.

During the season, the bushes are fertilized 2-3 times with mineral or organic fertilizers. Watering is essential 1-2 times a week, but avoid over-watering the soil.

Resistance to diseases and weather conditions

This variety tolerates deteriorating weather conditions well, but in any case this will affect the harvest.

It is resistant to many common diseases, but for prevention, it's best to treat it with fungicides several times, at ten-day intervals. The first treatment should be done 14 days after planting in its permanent location. Insecticides are used to prevent pests.

Reviews

Everyone in our family absolutely loves bell peppers, so we plant a lot of them. We grow them in a greenhouse, and last year we tried a new variety, "Butuz." I was delighted that not a single plant got sick, as we didn't treat them with anything, not even preventatively. We had a good harvest, which we ate ourselves and passed on to our children. We even froze some for the winter; I love adding peppers to soups. I also canned a few salads and preserved the slices in brine. I was delighted; I'll definitely plant more next year.

I've been planting Butuz peppers for several years now, and the plants have never been sick. Of course, I do some preventative maintenance, but as we know, even that doesn't always work. I grow the seedlings myself, and they're strong and healthy. The fruits are large and the flavor is excellent. My wife preserves the peppers whole for the winter perfectly; I'd sell my soul for them. I love stuffed peppers, and this variety makes a delicious one.

Conclusion

"Butuz" is certainly a bit demanding in terms of care, but those who grow it no longer pay much attention to this. After all, the juicy and delicious fruits of this variety have become a favorite among many gardeners and experienced agronomists. With a little patience and favorable conditions, "Butuz" can reap an excellent harvest.
