A simple plum compote with pits for the winter without sterilization - ready to eat

Preparations for the winter

If you enjoy preserving for the winter, be sure to make this delicious and healthy plum compote with pits. Because the plums are preserved with the pits, the compote is very quick to prepare. It's also convenient to make without sterilization, which is exactly what we offer.

Since the compote contains seeds, it should be stored for no more than a year, as the seeds can release toxic substances. However, it's unlikely that such a delicious drink will last long. Your family will drink it even before spring, so don't worry. Moreover, the 3-liter jar of compote for which this recipe is intended is a suitable container for a large family.

Ingredients:

  • plums – 300 g;
  • sugar – 200-250 g;
  • water – 2.7 l.

How to make plum compote with pits

Wash and sort the plums, removing the stems and leaves. Place the washed plums in the bottom of a clean, sterilized jar. Blue plums are ideal for this recipe; they will release their juices into the compote, adding a beautiful hue. The plums themselves have a vibrant flavor, so the drink will taste just as good. Plus, blue plums are very aromatic and flavorful, making the compote tastier than any store-bought juice.

put the plums in a jar

Add the required amount of sugar. If you like sweeter drinks, use 300 grams of sugar per 3-liter jar.

add sugar

Bring water to a boil and pour the hot water over the plums. Cover and let sit for 15-20 minutes to release the juices.

pour boiling water over

Pour the rich compote into a deep saucepan and bring to a boil again.

pour the compote into a saucepan

Pour the hot liquid into the jar with plums for the second time; the color has already become bright and rich.

pour the compote back into the jar

Roll up the resulting drink with a metal lid using a special seaming tool. Cover the compote with a warm blanket and let it cool. You can leave the jars overnight and store them in a cool, dark pantry in the morning. The plum compote will keep perfectly there all winter.

close the lid

Before serving, chill the drink, pour into glasses, and share. The plums from the compote will be a delight to eat. Enjoy!
