Growing radishes seasonally in a greenhouse during winter is a task that even beginners can handle. The first rule is to choose a cold-hardy variety. Top varieties include "Gribovsky," "Red Early," "Rubin," "Zarya," and others. It takes 25-30 days from planting to harvest. The second rule is that when grown indoors, the vegetable requires artificial lighting. If the greenhouse design doesn't allow for additional light sources, early-ripening, winter-hardy varieties should be grown. These include "Tarzan," "Debel," "Coral," and "Donar."
Preparing the soil for planting
Botanists distinguish four techniques for preparing nutritious soil. Gardeners can choose any of them.

4 kg of manure peat and 4 kg of turf soil. |
4 kg of field soil and 6 kg of manure humus. |
4 kg of turf soil and 5 kg of manure humus. |
5 kg of turf soil and 5 kg of greenhouse soil. |

Add 2 kg of lowland peat. |
Mix until smooth. |

For 1 m2 of greenhouse use 2 kg of ready-made mixture. |

The seeds are planted in mid-January.
Work in the greenhouse begins on a day when the average temperature inside does not drop below 0°C. Radishes can be planted indoors if the daytime thermometer rises above 15°C. Failure to observe the lower and upper "thresholds" will result in the loss of the future harvest. Warm the soil 36 hours before planting. Covering it with thick garden plastic film is sufficient. The rest of the process is as follows:
- After 36 hours, the gardener checks the condition of the soil;
- You can plant seeds if the soil has become soft;
- minimum distance between rows: 10 cm;
- Recommended planting depth: 2-3 cm.
After planting, the future radishes are covered. Over the next 3-5 days, the seeds acclimatize.
Radishes require minimal care.
As soon as the radishes planted in the garden emerge in winter, they are thinned out. Leave at least 2 cm between plantings. Otherwise, the sprouts will create excessive shade. The less light a neighboring planting receives, the slower its growth rate. Ensure that the greenhouse receives sufficient light. Proper winter radish cultivation requires a 9-hour daylight period. This means high intensity and brightness of light. If the greenhouse is too dark, the gardener should install additional light sources. They should be positioned so that there are no "dark spots" inside.

Fertilize the planted winter radish variety every 6-8 days. Use organic matter, such as compost. Add 500 g of nitrogen fertilizer and 100 g of peat to the nutrient mixture. Mix the ingredients until smooth. Up to 500 g of the mixture is needed per 1 m². Another important point is that radishes require regular watering. Depending on the region, soil in a greenhouse loses moisture in 3-5 days. Up to 1 liter of water is needed per 1 m².
The recommended watering schedule is once every 3 days. Before adding water again, check the soil moisture level. Overwatering will cause root rot.

Comfortable temperature conditions
A gardener should know that to grow radishes in a greenhouse in winter for sale or for personal use, the vegetable must be provided with a comfortable temperature range:
- germination stage (minimum): +2 + 3 C;
- germination stage (desirable): +8 +10 C;
- seedlings have hatched (minimum): +8 + 10 C;
- seedlings have hatched (desirable): +12 + 14 C;
- active growth (minimum): +20 + 21 C.
The figures vary depending on the variety. Full details are provided on the seed packaging.

You can enjoy radishes once they reach their typical size and color. Botanists recommend not delaying harvesting. Otherwise, the vegetable will lose its nutritional value. On the day you plan to harvest, water the last time around 8-9 a.m. and harvest around 2-3 p.m. The procedure is as follows:
- carefully remove the vegetable from the ground;
- cut off the tops (they are then used for mulching the soil);
- carefully remove the leaves, taking care not to harm the fruit;
- wash the fruits in a large volume of cold water;
- radishes are wiped with a paper towel;
- Place the fruits in a plastic bag.
The harvested vegetable is stored in the refrigerator for 4 weeks.
Growing radishes for sale
The government provides support to agricultural producers. Gardeners who want to sell radishes are relying on traditional varieties. "Exotic" varieties are being introduced gradually. Initially, it's important to test how potential buyers will perceive them. The following recommendations will help minimize the likelihood of problems:
- as demand for the product increases, new plots of land are purchased to expand the area under cultivation;
- The seeds are planted once every 14 days - during cold winters and in warmer times the gardener will ensure a constant supply of fresh goods;
- planting is carried out using well-proven varieties;
- peak demand is summer and winter.
Radish – an easy-to-grow vegetable that's planted in a greenhouse in mid-January. Cold-tolerant varieties are used for planting. Regardless of the region, seeds can be grown indoors when the average nighttime temperature doesn't drop below 0°C (32°F) and daytime temperatures don't drop below 15°C (59°F) or 17°C (59°F). This root vegetable requires minimal care. Gardeners should provide 10 hours of daylight, regular watering, and fertilizing.
