Finger-licking good cucumber and onion salad for the winter
Today we'll make a finger-licking good cucumber salad with onions. This recipe, complete with step-by-step photos, will help you recreate the winter preparation process. The salad turns out very tasty and attractive, so it can be used not only to diversify your daily diet, but also served at the festive table.
Since canning according to this recipe is done without additional sterilization, it greatly simplifies the process and significantly reduces the time you spend in the kitchen.
This salad can be served with various porridges or potato dishes, or with meat, fish, or poultry. It even keeps well in a standard apartment pantry.
Ingredients:
- cucumbers – 1 kg;
- onions – 100 g;
- vinegar 9% - 30 ml;
- vegetable oil – 30 ml;
- salt – 1 tbsp;
- sugar – 1.5 tbsp;
- peppercorns – to taste.
How to make a cucumber and onion salad for the winter
Prepare all the necessary ingredients according to the list. Choose tasty, fresh cucumbers that are not at all bitter. Then wash them and trim the ends on both sides. Slice the cucumbers into medium-thick slices.
Rinse and dry the onion, peel and rinse. Cut the onion into half rings or cubes. You can also add your favorite herbs to the salad if desired.
Prepare a saucepan, place the sliced cucumbers in it and add the chopped onions.
Pour a portion of vegetable oil into a pan with cucumbers and onions.
Next, you need to add salt and sugar to the cucumbers, add a little peppercorns - allspice and regular.
Place the saucepan over low heat and simmer the salad for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the vinegar toward the end of cooking.
Place the salad in sterilized jars, roll them up immediately and place them upside down.
Place a blanket over the jars and let them cool for 24 hours. After this time, transfer the jars to the cellar.
