Everyone strives to protect their property from chemicals. There are several proven folk remedies that will help you forget about this pest. Mechanical method
The most radical method of getting rid of pests. It involves digging up the anthill and then moving it to a new location. This method is used when other control options have failed. The procedure is performed in a special suit.
Dig the anthill as deep as possible, and place all the soil, including the insects and larvae, in a bucket or wheelbarrow. Take the ants as far away from the area as possible.
Lures
This method relies on the use of products that attract pests. The bait can be poisonous or non-poisonous. Poisonous substances are used when it's necessary to kill insects, while non-poisonous ones are chosen when it's necessary to drive ants away from the property.
Poisonous baits are made using boric acid or boron. They have the same effect on insects.
There are several options for bait.
- Sugar-based. Mix 6 tablespoons of sugar with 1 teaspoon of boric acid. It's a good idea to add a little honey. Add 2 cups of water to the mixture and stir. Pour the resulting poison into small containers, such as plastic lids, and place them around the area.
- Glycerin bait. Mix together one-third teaspoon of boric acid, two teaspoons of glycerin, a little honey, one tablespoon of water, and sugar (optional) to form small balls.
- With yolk and potato. Mix boric acid (1 teaspoon), 1 teaspoon sugar, 3 boiled potatoes, and 3 egg yolks until smooth. Form balls from the resulting dough and place them around the area.
Non-poisonous traps are made with various sweet foods (sugar, powdered sugar, honey, jam). They are placed outside the property. This method is most often used to move ants from the house to the outdoors, but you can also try moving them outside the property.
