When making grape-plum compote according to this recipe, you don't even need to sterilize the container, because we'll steep the fruit in boiling water for 15 minutes before sealing. Even the most inexperienced and novice cook can handle this compote.
Ingredients (calculated for a three-liter jar of compote):
- ripe plums – 8-10 pieces,
- grapes (blue) – 300 g,
- drinking water – 2500 ml.,
- granulated sugar – 250 g.
How to make plum and grape compote
You can use any variety of plums and grapes. The main thing is that they don't fall apart when exposed to boiling water. Blue grapes will add a beautiful hue to the compote. Wash the fruit and place it in a clean and dry 3-liter jar. You can use a smaller jar, but keep in mind that the compote will be consumed very quickly. You can add the grapes with the stems on.
Boil the required amount of water and pour it into the jar. Carefully pour it directly into the center of the plums and grapes to avoid cracking the glass.
Let it sit for fifteen minutes and then pour the water back into the saucepan. Now prepare the sweet filling: add 250 grams of sugar to the water and bring to a boil.
Pour syrup over the fruit to the very top and seal with steamed lids.
We leave the compote to cool upside down, and then put it in a pantry or cellar.
It is recommended to consume plum and grape compote chilled.
