Description and characteristics of green pepper

Benefit

Green bell peppers are rich in nutrients, including vitamins and minerals. Green bell peppers typically contain lower amounts of vitamin C, but are still considered beneficial. Furthermore, most of the vitamin is always found in the flesh near the stem, which is traditionally cut off during cooking.

Green bell peppers have the following positive effects on human health:

  • normalization of sleep;
  • giving additional strength;
  • improvement of emotional state;
  • restoration of the circulatory system and prevention of blood clots;
  • activation of the digestive system, but for such a positive effect you need to
  • eat 100 grams of the product;
  • improving the appearance of women;
  • prevention of anemia.

This beneficial effect will only be observed with moderate consumption. Excessive consumption of green bell peppers will lead to increased stomach acidity, which can increase the risk of gastritis and ulcers. The best solution is to carefully monitor the frequency of green pepper consumption.

Sweet green peppers are a healthy and tasty vegetable that you can safely grow in your own garden.

Growing recommendations

Green bell peppers are heat-loving vegetables. Storing seeds for future cultivation requires taking this into account. This variety boasts optimal yields, which last no more than two years. Hybrid varieties are purchased annually, as they lack genetic memory and can only produce a bountiful harvest throughout the year.

Seeds are best sown in late winter. This way, you'll be able to enjoy green bell peppers in the summer. Seeds are planted in boxes or pots, buried 5-6 millimeters deep in the soil. Warm temperatures, around 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), are required for the first few days, eventually dropping to 18 degrees Celsius (64 degrees Fahrenheit). This will allow the seedlings to gain strength and grow successfully, delighting you with a worthy harvest.

Fertilize when three leaves appear. This determines the pepper's further development.

Before planting peppers outdoors, harden off the seeds. The pepper seedlings are placed outside or on a balcony, but brought indoors at night. Hardening off is only done in good weather.

Green peppers should be replanted only after 55-60 days. The soil should be well-warmed. It's best to schedule the replanting for the second half of May. At night, the seedlings should be covered with warm plastic to protect them from frost. Regular, moderate watering is required from the start, as the soil should not be allowed to dry out.

Planted peppers will need side shoots treated. No more than five side shoots should be present on a single plant. Excess shoots should only be removed during hot weather. No more than 20 fruits should be present on a single plant, otherwise even a supported plant will break under the weight of the fruit.

To achieve a bountiful harvest, watering and fertilizing are necessary. Watering is best done no more than twice a week, but the exact frequency depends on the soil conditions. Peppers are best watered using sprinklers or root irrigation. Fertilizing is just as important as watering, but avoid using potassium chloride.

Proper care of green bell peppers guarantees a decent harvest.
