Mid-season sweet pepper varieties can compete even with early varieties. Their main advantages are their flavor, large size, and thick flesh.
Ox ear
Fully ripened fruits are usually a deep red hue. They are oblong, reaching up to 15 cm in length, and weigh approximately 180 grams. The flavor is sweet, not spicy, but quite rich. Suitable for both raw consumption and canning and preserving.
California Miracle
This variety has been grown in Russia for several decades, but it still delights both experienced and less experienced gardeners. Although the fruits are small, weighing only 90-150 grams, they are still very tasty and sweet, and are popular among those living in southern countries. The fruit of this variety was originally red, but due to the development of new varieties, it can also be yellow, orange, or even black.
A gift from Moldova
The "Gift of Moldova" variety can be grown both in a greenhouse and in a garden. The bushes grow small, as do the fruits themselves. The average fruit weight is about 70 grams, and the color is bright red. The pods are crisp, sweet, and have a distinctive peppery flavor. The advantages of this variety are its high yield, low maintenance, and robustness.
Bogatyr
The fruit of the Bogatyr variety has an average wall thickness of 6 mm, sometimes reaching 8 mm, and excellent flavor and aroma. The bushes grow large and wide, and the fruits can weigh up to 200 grams. Bogatyr is especially popular among those who value a healthy lifestyle, as it contains a large amount of vitamin C.
Antaeus
This variety grows best in Ukraine and Moldova, as it requires consistent warmth. The fruits reach impressive sizes, weighing around 300 grams. The variety's main advantages are, of course, its size, but also its excellent taste.
Atlas
This variety can safely be called a giant, as its fruits can reach a weight of 400 grams. Its flesh has a sweet taste and a fresh, pleasant aroma. This pepper is often used to make juice and for medicinal purposes. It grows best in central Russia, as it doesn't require a very warm climate.
Flight
The Polet pepper isn't popular among the average person, but is more suited to more experienced gardeners. Unfortunately, over time, this variety has been supplanted by younger, easier-to-grow varieties. The fruits are not very large, averaging around 100-150 grams.
Arsenal
The main advantages of this pepper are its high yield and impeccable taste. The fruits are quite small, with a maximum weight of about 90 grams. Caring for the plant is simple; all you need to do is water it properly, fertilize it a few times a season, and loosen the soil before planting.
Hercules
This variety produces compact, semi-spreading bushes that reach a height of about 50 cm. It is as easy to grow as other sweet pepper varieties, and the fruits grow quite large, weighing about 200-250 grams.
Sweet chocolate
This variety is better suited for fresh, raw consumption than for canning. The fruits are very juicy and sweet, and have a beautiful bright red color. They grow small, averaging about 100 grams.
Red Bull
The "Red Bull" variety grows best in central and southern Russia, as well as in Ukraine. Its main advantage is the size of its fruits. Average fruits weigh around 200-250 grams, while the largest can reach 400 grams. The fruits have a sweet and very aromatic flavor.
Yellow Bull
As its name suggests, this variety grows bright yellow. Like "Red Bull," it grows to a fairly large size. It's known for its fresh and memorable aroma. It can be used fresh, in salads and appetizers, or for canning.
Aeneas
This variety is best eaten fresh. The fruits are large, weighing between 200 and 350 grams. This variety grows best in the south, that is, in southern Russia or Ukraine. It does not grow in northern countries.
Golden Tamara
The fruit is golden-yellow in color and flattened and round in shape, reminiscent of the sun. The walls are up to 10 mm thick, and the fruit typically weighs no more than 200 grams, although exceptions do occur.
Golden-maned lion
The color of this pepper's fruit, like the previous variety, is golden, but its shape is very different, as the fruits of "Golden-Maned Lion" are cubic. Gardeners often report high yields from this variety.
Yolo Miracle
This is also one of the largest varieties of sweet pepper, with fruits averaging around 250-300 grams, though exceptionally, some weighing 400-500 grams are possible. This variety is excellent for canning, but can also be eaten fresh.
Star of the East
The characteristic features of the variety are large fruits (250-350 grams), rich red color, not very picky, as well as a sweet taste and a fresh, wonderful aroma.
Reviews
Last year I planted the "Bogatyr" variety. The bush is tall, 55-60 cm. I liked the fruits. They were large and tasty. This year I bought them again and just planted them.
Last year, I bought a sweet pepper called "Gift of Moldova" at a grocery store and planted it in my garden. They promised it would be early, but it turned out to be mid-season. It didn't have any problems. The fruits themselves are dark red and last about 10 days. I liked them.
I am happy with the “California Miracle” variety; it comes in all colors. The peppers are large, juicy, without bitterness, and they don’t get sick.
