Instructions for treating cucumbers with Trichopolum and Metronidazole

Cucumbers

Many cucumber varieties are susceptible to fungal and bacterial infections. In addition to traditional treatments, some vegetable growers use the medicinal product Trichopolum to treat their plants. When used correctly, it quickly destroys pathogenic microflora and prevents re-infection. The product is harmless to health and does not affect the taste of fruits.

Scope of application of the medicinal product for cucumbers

The medication "Trichopol" has antimicrobial and antibacterial effects. Its main active ingredient is metronidazole. It is used to treat fungal and bacterial infections in humans. A medication called "Metronidazole" is also available in pharmacies. It is an analogue of "Trichopol" and has the same effect. Therefore, the medications are interchangeable if necessary.

Some vegetable growers practice spraying cucumbers with Trichopolum to treat the following diseases:

These diseases are classified as fungal infections. Cucumber plants require high temperatures and moist soil for vigorous growth. Under these conditions, the fungus multiplies rapidly. Therefore, potent treatments are needed to preserve the harvest and eliminate the infection. Treatment with traditional fungicides does not always produce good results. In these cases, vegetable growers spray the plants with a solution of Trichopolum or Metronidazole tablets.

In addition to fungal diseases, cucumber plants suffer from bacterial infections. Common ones include:

  • angular spot;
  • gray mold;
  • vascular bacteriosis.

Traditional chemicals used in plant growing don't always combat bacterial diseases. They develop very quickly and often result in the death of the vegetable crop. Treating the plants with Trichopolum slows the progression of the infection and prevents the death of cucumber plants.

Procedure for preparing solutions

To eliminate the infection, plants are watered at the roots with medicinal solutions or sprayed on the foliage. Depending on the treatment method, the dosage of the medicinal substance varies. For irrigation, dissolve one Trichopolum tablet in 1 liter of warm water. For convenience, the medicinal solution is first ground into a powder and then mixed with the liquid. Typically, a large volume of solution is prepared at once. Then, add 10 tablets to a 10-liter bucket of water.

Important!
When spraying bushes, use a more concentrated solution. Add two tablets of the medicinal product to 1 liter of water. After mixing, let the solution settle. Then pour it into a spray bottle.

In addition to the classic solution options, a recipe with the addition of brilliant green is used to treat cucumber bushes. To prepare it, crush 10 Metronidazole tablets into powder and mix with 1 liter of warm water until the tablets are completely dissolved. Then, bring the volume of liquid to 10 liters. Finally, pour 10 ml of brilliant green into the solution.

To eliminate late blight, cucumbers are treated with a Trichopolum solution with the addition of iodine:

  • 15 tablets crushed to a powder state are dissolved in 500 ml of warm water;
  • the volume of liquid is brought to 10 l;
  • add 10 ml of iodine to the solution.

Methods of processing cucumbers

Cucumber plants are sprayed immediately after the first signs of infection are detected. To prevent disease, periodic treatments are carried out regularly, every 7 days. Spraying is continued until signs of infection disappear or until harvesting begins. The plants are treated by spraying the solution with a spray bottle. This work is carried out in dry, windless weather. Plants are sprayed in the evening, when there is no strong sun.

Spraying the medicinal solution at midday causes sunburn on the leaves. When treating, ensure the solution is applied to all parts of the plant. Pay particular attention to the undersides of leaves and the lower parts of stems.

If watering is chosen as the treatment method, the soil beneath the bushes is first moistened with clean water. Then, the prepared solution is poured under the roots, using 500 ml per plant.

Advice!
In cases of severe infestation, both foliar and root treatments are used. This prevents the infection from developing in the soil.

Disadvantages of using medicinal preparations for cucumbers

Cucumbers are particularly susceptible to fungal infections. These are caused by aerobes that thrive in moist environments and inhabit plant debris. They require oxygen to survive. Metronidazole, the active ingredient in Trichopolum, as noted in the instructions, is effective against anaerobic microorganisms, fungi, and viruses that thrive in the absence of oxygen. The medication does not kill infections caused by aerobes.

When pathogens weakening vegetable crops are destroyed, beneficial bacteria needed for proper nutrient absorption are compromised. This results in dysbacteriosis. The plant's immune defenses are weakened. Subsequently, the use of potent chemicals is necessary to restore them.

During treatment, chemicals penetrate the leaf blades and accumulate in plant tissue. Repeated spraying only increases the amount of harmful substances accumulated in the fruit. Therefore, harvests from plants that have undergone multiple treatments are no longer environmentally friendly. Eating cucumbers treated with Trichopolum increases the risk of the body developing a tolerance to the effects of metronidazole. If treatment with this drug is necessary, it will not be effective. Then, strong antibiotics will be required for recovery.

Trichopol is not intended for use on plants. Therefore, its effects on agricultural crops have not been studied. It has side effects and contraindications. Vegetable growers should make the decision to use Trichopol on cucumbers independently, understanding the consequences of their actions.

Safety precautions

When diluting and using the working solution of Trichopolum, it is essential to observe mandatory safety precautions. Wear a protective mask when spraying the solution. Do not inhale the vapors or allow droplets to come into contact with mucous membranes or eyes. The medication may cause allergic reactions. Wear thick, full-body clothing before handling. Protect your hands with rubber gloves.

All ripe cucumbers are picked before spraying the plants with the medicinal solution. After treatment, the crop is not harvested for 10 days. Pets are removed from the garden before beginning work. After spraying, do not allow them to come into contact with the treated plants.

The use of the drug "Trichopolum" when growing cucumbers reduces the likelihood development of infectious diseasesThe medicinal product improves plant health without altering the taste of the fruit. To avoid harming the plants, do not exceed the recommended dosage.
