Delicious and healthy dogwood jam with pits

Dogwood is a shrub that bears red, oval-shaped berries. The vitamins contained in the berries strengthen blood vessels and protect them from fragility.
Dogwood jam is delicious and healthy. It's excellent for fever, bronchitis, sore throat, and other cold symptoms.
This winter treat can be prepared with or without the pits. Seedless jam is softer and more delicate, but the pits impart a wonderful aroma and are much less time-consuming, as you don't have to bother picking out the pits from small berries.
Some housewives blanch the berries to make jam faster and remove the unnecessary natural astringency.
To make this, place the fruit in a sieve and boil it in water for no more than two minutes. The step-by-step recipe will tell you how to make the jam itself.
Ingredients:
- dogwood – 1 kg,
- sugar – 1.2 kg,
- water – 0.4 liters.
How to make dogwood jam
Wash the dogwood and discard any spoiled berries. Place in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
Add sugar to the berries and shake the pan. Do not stir.
Add water, stir well, and bring the mixture to a boil. Skim off any foam that appears occasionally. Cook until it boils. Remove the jam from the heat and let it cool for 5 hours. After the specified time, bring the mixture back to a boil and cook, stirring, for about 3-5 minutes. Repeat the cooling and boiling cycles 1-2 more times.
Pour the dogwood jam into a glass container washed with soda and sterilized.
Roll up the jars, turn them upside down, cover them with a towel, and leave them until they're completely cool. It's recommended to store the mixture in a dark, dry place.
In winter, it can be served with tea, baked goods, or consumed in small amounts as jam to alleviate symptoms and prevent colds. Once opened, the jar should be stored in the refrigerator with the lid tightly closed.
