Vertimek: application for cucumbers against pests

Vertimek insecticide is effective for protecting cucumbers and other vegetable crops from insect pests. The product is biologically derived and does not harm plants. It works faster and lasts longer than traditional pesticides. Vertimek reliably protects cucumber plants from adult pests and their larvae. When used correctly, the insecticide is safe for humans and beneficial insects.

Description and mechanism of action

Vertimek is a biological product. Its active ingredient is abamectin. It is obtained by fermenting soil-dwelling bacteria. Abamectin belongs to a chemical group discovered by Japanese scientists at the end of the last century. Vertimek protects plants from parasitic insects. The product is sold as a highly concentrated emulsion. Therefore, it must be diluted with plenty of clean water before use.

The insecticide acts on parasites through contact and intestinal contact. After spraying, the solution penetrates plant tissue. The insects ingest the active ingredients through feeding, along with plant sap. The solution produces gamma-aminobutyric acid, which blocks the parasites' nervous system.

Effectiveness for cucumbers

The drug "Vertimek" is used to treat cucumber bushes from the following insects:

1. Aphids infect vegetable crops at all stages of development. The pest feeds on plant sap, sucking it from leaves and young stems. Infected leaf blades become deformed and wither, and fruit buds fall off.
2. Spider mites commonly attack bushes in greenhouses and hothouses. These very small insects live on the undersides of leaves and feed on plant sap.
3. Root-knot nematodes live in the soil and attack the root system of plants. The pest secretes toxic substances that cause growths to form on the roots, where the next generation of nematodes develops.

In addition to the pests listed above, Vertimek kills thrips, other mites, caterpillars, and butterflies found on vegetable and fruit crops. It acts quickly on cucumbers and other plants. Two hours are sufficient for the active ingredients to penetrate plant tissue and begin killing the pests. Compared to standard acaricides, Vertimek remains effective twice as long after application. Insects die within 1.5 hours of ingestion. It kills both adults and larvae.

When applied correctly and at the correct dosage, the insecticide does not affect plants or alter their structure. The product has no harmful effect on beneficial insects or birds. Although Vertimek is classified as a hazard class 2 insecticide, the fruit can be consumed within 3 days after treatment. Preparation of solution and application

The manufacturer recommends spraying the insecticide immediately upon detection of the first pests on cucumber bushes. After spreading the solution over the treated area, cover the bushes with plastic wrap and leave for 24 hours.

A solution to kill thrips is prepared by mixing 10 liters of slightly warmed water and 1 teaspoon of emulsion. The resulting solution is poured into a spray bottle and sprayed on the foliage of infested bushes. When treating, be especially careful to apply the solution to the undersides of the leaves, as this is where the greatest number of pests typically congregate.

To eliminate spider mites, prepare a working solution of 2.5 ml of the product and 10 liters of warm water. To kill other leaf- and fruit-eating insects, mix 1 g of the insecticide with 10 liters of water. Vertimek's protective effect lasts 10 to 20 days after application, depending on the concentration of the working solution used.

Precautionary measures

The manufacturer does not prohibit the use of Vertimek insecticide in combination with other agricultural products. However, the selected products must have a neutral pH. Before using both products together, test the plants with a small amount of the chemicals.

This product is classified as toxicity class II. Therefore, exercise caution when handling it. The solution is harmful to beneficial insects, fish, and poultry when ingested. Therefore, keep pets away from the area while working with the product. Immediately after application, cover the plants with plastic wrap to prevent birds and bees from coming into contact with the toxic substances.

When diluting the insecticide and treating plants, wear personal protective equipment. Protect your respiratory system with a respirator or mask, and your eyes with goggles. Wear rubber gloves. After completing all tasks, wash your face and hands with soap. If the product is accidentally swallowed, give the victim plenty of fluids to drink and induce vomiting. If it gets into your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water.

Vertimek retains its properties for 4 years when stored in a darkened area with a temperature of 15°C to 30°C and low humidity. Do not leave medications or food near the product. After diluting the product in water, use it within 2 hours. Discard any remaining contents, and incinerate the empty container.

When used correctly, Vertimek insecticide kills harmful insects from the first application. It is effective for spider mite control, thrips, and aphids. This product provides long-term protection against re-infestation and does not cause pest tolerance.
