Grape juice at home using a juicer
Grape juice is incredibly aromatic, delicious, and beautiful, and its health benefits are second to none! If you have a juicer, making it is incredibly easy.
Freshly squeezed grape juice can be drunk immediately after preparation, after filtering the foam, but to preserve it for the winter, you will need to boil it and add a little sugar.
Ingredients for 500 ml of juice:
- grapes - 500 g;
- sugar - 50-80 g (optional);
- drinking water - 100 ml (optional).
How to prepare grape juice for the winter
Rinse the grapes thoroughly under running water, placing them in a colander to drain. Tear the berries from the stems and place them in a deep bowl.
Run the grapes through a juicer. If the pulp is wet, you can re-squeeze it. The juice will be opaque, with a grayish foam cap. You can filter it through several layers of cheesecloth and drink it immediately. However, storing freshly squeezed, unprocessed juice is not recommended, as it will spoil quickly.
To prepare grape juice for future use, you need to pour it into a saucepan of appropriate volume.
Add granulated sugar at a rate of 100 g per 1 liter of juice. You can also dilute the juice with water if it's too concentrated or not quite enough to reach the desired volume.
Place the saucepan with the juice on the stove and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Boil for 5-7 minutes. A thick foam will form on the surface.
Strain the juice through cheesecloth folded several times or a clean cloth napkin. The juice will be almost clear. To remove any fine particles, leave the juice in a cool place for 24 hours. The grape pulp will settle to the bottom, and you'll only need to carefully pour the juice into another container.
Next, you can sterilize the juice in jars in a pot of boiling water for 7 minutes, or boil it separately and pour it into a sterilized jar. Roll up the lids or screw them on, then turn them upside down for 10 minutes to further sterilize the lids. Then turn them upside down and wrap them in a warm blanket. Once the juice has cooled completely, store it in the cellar until winter.
Bon appétit and happy cooking!
