Apples in syrup for the winter
This sweet treat will appeal not only to apple lovers, but to everyone. Slices of aromatic apples in a sweet sugar syrup are a real treat. These apples are not only a treat to enjoy at any time of year, but also a great addition to homemade desserts.
Apples in syrup for the winter taste like fresh apples, but are very sweet thanks to the concentrated syrup. This treat is quick and easy to prepare, without much effort or expense. Simply cut the fruit into neat pieces, make a sweet syrup, pour it over the apples, and seal. As you can see, there's nothing complicated about it, but the result will delight you and your family. Ingredients (per 1 l):
- apples – 0.8 kg;
- purified water – 0.5-0.6 l;
- granulated sugar – 200-250 gr.
How to prepare apples in syrup for the winter
The first question we have is what variety of apples to use for this preserve? Juicy fruits with a firm, solid texture are best. After all, only these will not fall apart during cooking. The ideal variety for this purpose is "Slava Pobeditelyu." We wash the apples and begin slicing. We will cut them into neat slices. You can use a special slicing tool for this, but a regular knife will also do. Remove the seeds from the apples.
Bring the water to a boil and add 200-250 grams of sugar, depending on how sweet your apples are. Boil the syrup for five minutes. Now sterilize the lid and jar. Simmer the sliced apples in the boiling sweet syrup for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the fruit, or the slices will become mushy.
Using a slotted spoon, remove all the apples and place them in a jar.
Boil the syrup for a couple more minutes, then pour it into the jar. Seal the jar with the steamed lid and the apples in syrup.
A delicious delicacy for the winter is ready.
