Amber pear jam with lemon – a treat for angels
Jam is, in my opinion, the best winter treat, one that almost everyone will love. The key is to choose your favorite fruit or berry and make the most delicious jam.
My whole family loves amber-colored pear jam with lemon; this dessert flies off the table like crazy. If you love this fruit, you should definitely make this jam at least once.
The pear variety you choose isn't all that important. The only caveat is that if you want whole pear slices, as in this recipe with step-by-step photos, then choose pears that are not overripe and very firm. If you don't care about seeing the pieces in the jam, even slightly overripe and soft pears will do.
Ingredients:
- pears – 350 g;
- lemon – ½ pc.;
- water – 50 ml;
- sugar – 200-250 g.
How to make pear jam
Before cooking, peel the pears and cut them into convenient-sized slices. Naturally, remove the cores and pits as well.
Pour the required amount of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. When the water boils, add sugar and simmer for a while. This will create a sweet syrup.
Cut the lemon.
Next, add the lemon cut into half rings to the syrup and simmer for about ten minutes.
Next, add all the pear slices to the syrup and bring to a boil. Immediately remove from the heat. Let the pears cool and return to the stove. Once boiling, simmer for thirty minutes. Cool the contents again and reduce heat to a simmer. This time, use your judgment as to how long to cook the jam. You want to achieve the consistency you prefer.
While the jam is hot, pour it into clean, sterile jars and screw on or roll up the lids.
You don't have to turn the jars over; just wait for the jam to cool, then put it away in a convenient place for storage.
