A delicious dressing for borscht with cabbage for the winter
We all love hot borscht, but preparing it is quite a labor-intensive process. I suggest you make a cabbage borscht dressing for the winter using my recipe; it will be delicious. After all, sometimes we, modern housewives, don’t have enough time to cook borscht.
To save precious time, you can make a so-called semi-finished borscht dressing. It's made entirely from natural ingredients, unlike store-bought dressings. The recipe is quite unusual, but very simple.
The main ingredient in this dressing is fresh white cabbage. You can grab a jar of dressing from the pantry at any time and make a delicious borscht without the hassle of chopping all the vegetables.
Ingredients:
- tomatoes – 1000 g,
- carrots – 600 g,
- bell pepper – 500 g,
- onions – 600 g,
- cabbage - 2600 g,
- water – 1 tbsp.,
- vinegar – 3 tsp,
- refined sunflower oil – 130 ml.,
- sugar – 2 tbsp.,
- salt – 2 tbsp.
How to make borscht dressing with cabbage
We wash all our vegetables under running water. We cut the tomatoes into small, random wedges.
Remove seeds and stems from the bell pepper, then cut into strips.
Peel the carrots thinly and grate them on a coarse grater.
Peel the onion and chop it with a knife.
Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
Take a large saucepan and fill it with the required amount of water. Add vinegar and sunflower oil. Place the saucepan with this emulsion on the stove and pour in the chopped tomatoes.
After boiling for a few minutes, add the bell pepper. Cook for another few minutes and then add the chopped onion. Now it's the turn of the main ingredient—the cabbage—followed by the carrots. Mix the vegetables thoroughly, add salt and sugar, bring to a boil, and cook for another five minutes.
We put the hot dressing into clean, sterile jars and seal them with airtight lids.
It is recommended to store such a preparation in a refrigerator or in a cool basement.
