Ammophoska fertilizer

Fertilizers and preparations

Choosing the right fertilizer is a crucial task for any gardener. Let's take a closer look at Ammophoska fertilizer, which is suitable for growing a wide variety of crops and helps grow a bountiful, healthy harvest.

Description of the Ammophoska fertilizer

This product is a complex mineral fertilizer. The main elements are contained in nearly equal proportions. It comes in light gray or similarly colored granules. They are non-gyroscopic and do not cake or crumble.

This fertilizer is suitable for a variety of crops and soil types. It's even suitable for dry soils, but the effect will be maximized after thorough watering. It can be used in both small and large gardens.

Among other advantages, the fertilizer contains virtually no added bulking agents. The majority of the product consists of nutrients, which increases the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of Ammophoska.

Fertilizer composition

The composition contains four essential plant elements, accounting for 56% of the total fertilizer weight. The remaining 44% is made up of growth factors and minor additives. It's worth noting that the composition does not contain sodium or chlorine, which can negatively impact plant growth.

  1. Phosphorus (15%). It actively participates in cellular energy metabolism. In fact, phosphorus is one of the most important energy sources for plants.
  2. Potassium (15%). Important for strengthening plant immunity, helping fight diseases and pests, and increasing crop yields.
  3. Sulfur (14%). This element is responsible for nitrogen absorption. It does not acidify the soil and is almost completely absorbed by plants.
  4. Nitrogen (12%). Provides protein-rich cell formation, which leads to active plant growth and development.

Impact on plants

Here's how fertilizer affects all types of crops:

  • accelerates the development of the root system and strengthens it;
  • accelerates plant growth and makes this process less dependent on weather;
  • makes plantings more resistant to diseases and pests;
  • increases crop yield.

Ammophoska is especially beneficial for potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, flowers, and pears. However, it is suitable for almost all plant types.

Advantages and disadvantages of Ammophoska fertilizer

Pros:

  • minimum ballast substances;
  • versatility of application;
  • economy;
  • can be applied to the soil at any time of the year;
  • absence of toxins;
  • ease of use;
  • fast action.

Cons:

  • the importance of accurate dosage;
  • short shelf life when opened;
  • requirements for compliance with safety rules during use;
  • the need to apply additional fertilizers when the soil is depleted.

Rules of application

Fertilizer is typically used as a supplement to plant compost, before planting, as a primary fertilizer, or as a topical dressing. Its applications are wide, but it's important to remember proper proportions and safety precautions.

Application rates

Each preparation is applied to the soil in a specific amount, calculated as grams per square meter. According to standards, Ammophoska fertilizer should be applied in the following proportions:

  • for vegetables – 25-30 g;
  • for root vegetables – 20-30 g;
  • for berries – 15-25 g;
  • for ornamental crops (lawns, flowers) – 15-25 g;
  • for fruit trees – 50 g (young trees), 100 g (over 10 years old).

Storage rules

The product should not be stored in an open container for long periods of time. It quickly loses nitrogen, significantly reducing its beneficial properties. For long-term storage, it's best to purchase a tightly sealed container.

The area where the fertilizer is stored must be dry. Ammophoska should not be left within reach of children or animals.

Security measures

The fertilizer is classified as hazard class 4, so it is important to follow certain rules.

When working with Ammophoska, protect your respiratory system with a respirator or tight-fitting mask. Wear a heavy-duty suit, gloves, and closed-toe shoes. If the fertilizer comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with cold water. If dust comes into contact with mucous membranes, consult a doctor after rinsing. Ingestion of the fertilizer is the most dangerous option. Drink plenty of water, induce vomiting, and then seek medical attention.

To prevent fertilizer dust from getting everywhere, you can lightly spray the product with water from a spray bottle.

Reviews

Vegetable and garden growers often use this product in their plots. Here's what they write about the fertilizer on forums.

Elena:

"For several years, I fertilized my peppers with manure and ash. Then a friend recommended buying a proper fertilizer, and I chose Ammophoska. I was right – my peppers have grown more, they've stopped getting sick and wilting, and the fruit is bigger too. I couldn't be happier."

Peter:

"When I first planted potatoes, I decided to feed them with a high-quality, yet simple fertilizer. I settled on ammophoska. I was pleasantly surprised: the summer was cold, and my neighbors' tops had all turned black, and they were complaining about a poor harvest. My potatoes are doing just fine; they're healthy and large. I've been using it ever since. This year I'm planting apple trees, and I think they'll benefit from ammophoska, too. It's a good fertilizer at a low price."
