Characteristics and description of the Banana tomato

Tomatoes

The Banana Ural Dacha tomato grows successfully in open ground and produces a good harvest. This variety has gained popularity due to its high temperature tolerance. Recently, it has also been grown in greenhouses during cooler weather.

It takes 100-125 days to mature.

Characteristics and description

Indeterminacy (tall-growing tomatoes) is an advantage for gardeners. The Ural Gardener Banana is a mid-early ripening hybrid, making this variety's seeds more marketable.

The average bush reaches a height of 156 centimeters. The tallest recorded is 176 centimeters. The ripe fruit reaches 15 cm in length. When ripe, the tomatoes acquire a rich red color. The average weight of each fruit is 70-100 grams.

The fruits are quite large, somewhat reminiscent of a pepper in appearance, but some are also cylindrical—elongated with a slightly blunt end. They are perfect for any dish, pickling, and canning. They retain their freshness for a long time.

Tomatoes are transportable and tolerate long-distance transportation well.

The "Banana Ural Gardener" produces a good harvest. One square meter yields about seven to eight kilograms. On average, one plant can yield 20 to 30 fruits. More is possible with proper fertilization and careful care.

Growing and care

Seeds are sown in the spring, usually in early March, or at the latest in early April. They must be prepared (disinfected and germinated on damp cheesecloth). Pricking out occurs when the first leaves appear. Harden off the seedlings 6-8 days before planting in the ground. They are planted in greenhouses after 50-70 days. They are then planted outdoors in late spring, early June.

Tip! Choose high-quality tomato seeds. Use trusted wholesale suppliers, as only they know which varieties are best suited for specific conditions and locations. You can save on materials, but it's better to buy high-quality ones and use them in small quantities. This variety allows for this.

The planting pattern for the Banana Ural Dacha tomato is the same as for other varieties. On average, the spacing is 30 x 50 cm. Water regularly at first, then reduce the amount once the fruit appears.

When planting, do not neglect the rules: water as much as necessary, do not forget to create support for the bush.

Tips for caring for tomatoes

  • Despite their resilience to external conditions, tomatoes require care. Initially, water regularly, about every day with a small amount of water. Reduce the amount of water each month. If it's cold outside, it's better to water less frequently.
  • Loosen the soil every week. When loosening, try not to touch the roots, as this is the tomato plant's most vulnerable spot.
  • When tying up the stems, use soft fabric or rope that will not harm the plant.
  • Tomatoes produce well with mint, but will not survive with cabbage planted.

Advantages of the "Banana Ural Summer Resident" tomato

  1. Low seed price. On average, they cost 10 rubles. Cheaper than other varieties grown in such large quantities.
  2. They're quite durable. They don't deteriorate even after being stored in a car for two weeks, making them suitable for long-distance transport.
  3. Hardened, specifically designed for cold climates. Cold weather or lack of sun are no obstacle to growth.
  4. Indeterminate.
  5. Short ripening period.
  6. Good yield, fairly large fruits.
  7. Very pleasant taste.

Reviews

MichaelI bought this variety with trepidation, unsure if I'd get a harvest in a cold climate. This is my second year buying it and I have no regrets. It's an interesting option for budding entrepreneurs and gardeners. I've been growing vegetables for several years now, as it can be quite profitable during the peak months. Both wholesale and retail buyers have liked this variety. It grows very quickly and sells well. The flavor is pleasant, and the tomato itself is medium-firm. Its shape resembles a pepper.

Gennady: My family loves tomatoes, so I bought about 10 packages of "Banana Uralskiy Dachnik" tomatoes. I'd never grown vegetables before, only fruit. I bought this variety and "Bagira." I can say they grew well, the harvest was excellent, and the profit was high. I can confidently recommend them.

Bauyrzhan: I'm from Kazakhstan and ordered this variety purely out of curiosity from Russia, as it's not available in my home region. I really like it and remain devoted to it. I grow it for myself to feed my family clean produce without pesticides or other additives. It has a sweet flavor, and my neighbors love it too. They buy from me, even though I never intended to sell them. Thanks to "Ural Banana Gardener," I decided to start my own business. I thank the breeders for this variety, which can withstand Astana's cold. This has given not only me but also my family the opportunity to realize our potential in a new project.
