How to deliciously pickle onions
If you're unsure how to deliciously pickle onions at home, I'd like to share my recipe, which I use regularly. This recipe, complete with photos, pickles onions very quickly. You can safely add it not only to salads, but also when you marinate meat.
You can marinate onions in wine, apple cider vinegar, or regular vinegar. I prefer using regular 9% vinegar. Feel free to experiment and marinate the vegetable in any other vinegar.
To cut onions without tears, I recommend periodically rinsing the knife under running water. Another effective method is to place the onion in the freezer for just 7 minutes.
This recipe is suitable for pickling any type of onion: regular, red, or white. So, use the onion you usually buy for pickling.
Ingredients required:
- onion - 1 joke;
- vinegar 9% – 3 tablespoons;
- water – 3 tablespoons;
- sugar – ½ teaspoon;
- salt – ½ teaspoon.
How to pickle onions
Using a sharp knife, trim both ends of the onion. Now peel it. Use only whole, undamaged onions.
Place the onion on a cutting board and use a large, sharp knife to slice it into rings. The rings should be up to 5 millimeters thick.
Place the sliced rings in a deep bowl or saucepan. You can also use a food-safe container with a lid or a jar with a screw-on lid for marinating.
Add salt and sugar to the sliced rings.
Now pour in water at room temperature.
The next and last ingredient will be vinegar.
Once the ingredients have been added to the onion, mix everything together gently.
Let the onions marinate. This process takes about 20 minutes.
If you like, you can seal this type of pickled onion in jars, put them in the pantry, and open and use them as needed.
