Carambid fertilizer (urea)

Fertilizers and preparations

Urea, or carambide, is a nitrogen fertilizer widely used in agriculture. It is valued for its high efficiency and low cost.

Description

Carambide comes in two grades, with grade B used as a fertilizer. It is available in granule and tablet form (more effective, lower consumption, but more expensive). These granules are white with a gray-yellow tint. The tablets' greater effectiveness is achieved by their protective coating, which explains the higher price of this type of carambide.

How to properly dilute urea for irrigation

The two most commonly used solutions are 0.5% and 1%. Therefore, the calculations are quite easy. If you dilute the solution for 10 liters, you'll need to add 50 or 100 grams of fertilizer to the water. If you use 1 liter of water, you'll need to add ten times less fertilizer—5-10 grams. This will give you a solution.

Dosage

If you spray, be careful not to burn the leaves, and use no more than 15 ml per plant. If you use the fertilizer as a root fertilizer, you can increase the amount to 30 ml.

Procedure, types of work Application rate Recommendations for the instructions

Application in dry form (granules)

50 g – 100 g/10 m² We add it into a 10 cm hole in moist soil, watering after adding it

We use a liquid composition in the soil (solution)

200 g/10 m² for vegetable gardens, fruit trees and berries
spraying 50 g – 100 g/10 l of water/20 m² For vegetable crops, a solution of 50 g/10 l is used; for trees and shrubs, 100 g/10 l
During landing 4 g – 5 g/1 well The fertilizer should be thoroughly mixed with the soil and buried 10 cm deep.
root dressing for vegetable crops 3 g/1 l of water/1 plant during the period of ovary formation, increase to 5 g/1 l of water/1 plant
application under ornamental and berry bushes 70 g/1 bush scatter around the bush and cover with soil, then water thoroughly
application under trees

100 g – 250 g/1 tree

Pest control with carambid

Carambid is applied before budding, when the outside temperature is around 5°C. Urea spraying is used when there were a lot of pests in the previous year. Carambid is effective against aphids, weevils, apple blossom beetles, and leafhoppers.

Most commonly, a solution is used at a rate of 30 g of substance per 10 liters of water, but no more than 100 g per 10 liters. Exceeding the concentration can harm the plant.

Correct use of liquid carambid

When using urea, it is necessary to determine the types of plant fertilizers:

  • Pre-sowing treatment involves using urea granules, which are introduced into the furrows of the soil.
  • Fertilizing during sowing can be combined with potassium fertilizers. However, it's important to remember not to mix fertilizer and seeds. A layer of soil should be placed between them.
  • During growth, foliar feeding is considered the most effective method. Liquid urea is used for this purpose. Spray the leaves and shoots early in the morning or at sunset, away from direct sunlight and in calm conditions.

Application in the garden

Dilute urea at a rate of 15-50 g per 10 liters of water, depending on the application time. Foliar application is possible, but care must be taken not to damage the green parts of the plant.

Garden use

Special packages of urea combined with copper sulfate are sold for spraying garden crops. The package is diluted in 10 liters of water and applied to the plants before buds appear. This solution can also be used in the fall.

Urea composition

Urea is obtained from carbon dioxide and ammonia, the formula of the substance is H2N-CO-NH2. Urea contains 45% nitrogen, making it an effective fertilizer.

Advantages and disadvantages of using urea

Advantages:

  • Acceleration of plant growth;
  • Increased protein content (especially noticeable for cereal crops);
  • Easy to use, easily soluble in water;
  • Possibility to get rid of pests at the same time;
  • No accumulation of nitrates if instructions are followed.

Disadvantages of use:

  • Not compatible with all groups of fertilizers;
  • The temperature of the solution is lower than the air temperature;
  • If the dosage is exceeded, the plant may be burned or die.

Reviews

«Advantages: quality

Flaws: No

We bought some fertilizer for my grandmother to try. Her overall impression was good; our grandmother was raised in the Stalin era and was raised under the Soviet Union. She compared this fertilizer to the one produced during the Soviet era.
