Ingredients:
- large onions – 2 pcs.;
- garlic – 1-2 cloves;
- salt – 2-3 pinches;
- granulated sugar – 1 pinch;
- ground black pepper – to taste;
- vegetable oil – 30-40 grams;
- table vinegar – 1.5 tablespoons;
- water – 1.5 tablespoons;
- dill – 3-4 sprigs.
How to prepare pickled onions for shashlik
Peel the onion and rinse in cold water. Slice into half rings, preferably thin ones—this will help the onion marinate faster.
Place the onion in a bowl, add sugar and salt. Stir several times.
Fry the garlic in vegetable oil until fragrant. It's best to slice the garlic to make it easier to remove from the oil. Cook until lightly golden. Remove the fried garlic from the oil; discard it.
Drizzle the onions with oil, then add water and vinegar. Stir the onions again.
Finely chop the dill and add it to the onion, seasoning it with pepper to taste. Let the onion marinate for 30-40 minutes in a cool place. This will give you plenty of time to grill some delicious shashlik.
The finished appetizer is ready to serve. The onions are marinated, slightly tart from the vinegar, juicy and delicious. Enjoy!
