Cucurbitin is not produced in the fruit. This substance gives cucumber flesh its bitter taste.

This plant is indeterminate, meaning it grows continuously. This cucumber variety's bushes are characterized by vigorous growth of the main stem. It should not be allowed to reach the greenhouse ceiling. When grown in a greenhouse, the bush needs to be trained. It's best to tie the vines to encourage them to produce more ovaries.

In open beds, the vines can be left on the ground, but the central stem is pinched. Large, rich, dark green leaves emerge on the bushes. This cucumber has a medium climbing habit. Side shoots form, but not too many. It has a female flowering type. Ovaries at the nodes are arranged in clusters of several—from 3 to 7.

Fruit characteristics and yield

The cucumbers are short, dense, and rooted. They are cylindrical in shape and dark green in color, with small light stripes along the top. The pubescence is white. The surface of the cucumbers is covered with small tubercles with closely spaced, prickly spines. The average length of the fruit reaches 10 cm, and the diameter is 2 cm. These cucumbers weigh approximately 70-90 g. The skin is thin and shiny.

The flesh is tender and crisp, without cavities, with small seed capsules that remain empty. It has a slightly sweet taste. The cucumbers can be eaten fresh, but they don't keep well for long. Therefore, they are recommended primarily for whole-fruit canning and pickling. Sliced cucumbers are used in lecho and similar appetizers. "Patti f1" has high yields. With proper care, you can get up to 7 kg of cucumbers per square meter of plot. If the cucumbers become overgrown, they don't develop a barrel-shaped form like other cucumbers, but remain small. Daily picking helps stimulate the development of new ovaries on the bushes.

Direct sowing of the hybrid into the soil with seeds can be done no earlier than the beginning of June.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Resistance to diseases and pests, adverse conditions

Since this hybrid was developed specifically for Russia, it tolerates sudden temperature changes and sustains no damage from prolonged rainfall. It can withstand heat and lack of water without significant yield loss. It is resistant to various fungal diseases that commonly kill other varieties.

He gets sick extremely rarely. powdery mildew and olive spot. It is not susceptible to cucumber mosaic. In cool summers with frequent rainfall, 'Patti f1' may suffer from root rot. To prevent this, loosen the soil more frequently. Without access to air, moisture stagnates, and the roots begin to rot very quickly. To prevent infection, soak the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate or Fitosporin before sowing.

When grown in a greenhouse, no more than 2-3 plants should be planted in the same area.

This variety requires regular watering with sun-warmed water. Regular loosening of the soil is advisable, as it allows the cucumber's root system to receive oxygen. Controlling weeds will allow the cucumber to grow more quickly. This is because cucumbers will not have to compete with weeds for moisture and nutrients from the soil.
