We determine favorable days for gardeners in 2020 in Ukraine.

Lunar sowing calendar for gardeners and vegetable growers for 2025

To successfully plant crops, following agricultural practices and recommendations from experienced gardeners is not enough. You also need to choose the right date. To do this, use the 2020 lunar sowing calendar for gardeners in Ukraine. It's also important to pay attention to the phases of the moon. It has a significant impact on plants, and each lunar day has its own energy. When choosing the sowing date, adjust for the plant variety and the climate of the growing region.

Moon phases and their influence

Ukraine has a relatively mild climate, but the timing of planting vegetables, fruit trees, shrubs, and even ornamental plants isn't solely dependent on it. Greenery requires energy from the earth, sun, and moon. There are four main phases of the moon.

  1. Growing. This phase activates the movement of nutrients from the root system to the tops of plants. All the energy will be concentrated in the part of the plant located above the ground. To get tasty, juicy, and healthy fruits on trees, tomatoes, eggplants, and shrubs, plant them during this period.
  2. Full Moon. A special time. Energy is concentrated in the upper part of the seedlings. Gardening is not recommended. The fruits are filled with juice and nutrients. They can be harvested.
  3. Waning Moon. Nutrient flows are directed to the lower parts of plantings. Accordingly, root crops, tuber crops, and bulbous plants should be cultivated. Harvesting is done from varieties growing below ground level. This is best done when the waning moon passes through the constellations of fertile zodiac signs.
  4. New moon. Just like during the full moon, you should put off all work until later.
Attention!
During the New Moon, the root system and stems become weakened and any impact can negatively affect their condition.

Each phase has a beneficial or negative impact. Failure to follow astrological recommendations regarding planting can lead to serious and unpleasant consequences.

Shifting deadlines by region

The timing of seedling planting directly depends on the type of region and its location relative to the country's climate zone. Ukraine is divided into three major zones. Specific periods for planting outdoors or transplanting seedlings to their permanent location are determined for each zone.

Climate zones:

  1. Polissia. This includes the northern part of the country, specifically the Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv regions, as well as the northern parts of the Lviv, Ternopil, Kyiv, and Sumy regions.
  2. Forest-steppe. This is the central part of Ukraine, encompassing the Ternopil region, the northern part of the Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, and Odesa regions, and the southern parts of the Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions. The Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Sumy, Poltava, and Khmelnytskyi regions are located entirely within the central part.
  3. Steppe. This includes the entire southern part of the country, excluding the southern part of Crimea.

Note!
In the woodlands and forest-steppe, the timing shifts by approximately 2-3 weeks.

It is imperative to take into account when:

  • the snow has melted;
  • spring has come;
  • the frosts are over;
  • the soil has warmed up to the optimal temperature.

To get the harvest as early as possible in eastern Ukraine or the south, early-ripening varieties are used. Seedlings are prepared in February, planted in May, and harvested in mid-June or July, depending on the type of crop.

The 2020 lunar sowing calendar for gardeners in Ukraine differs from similar tables for other countries. Generally, the rules for using it are the same. It's important to correlate crop types, months, and favorable and unfavorable dates. These determine the timing for planting seeds, transplanting seedlings, and other similar gardening tasks.

    Damn! You could at least check what you're typing. April - the best days for planting (cucumbers, peppers, etc.) are April 23rd. Below are the days when you shouldn't do anything at all - April 23rd. Other websites don't list April 23rd as a planting date anywhere. How come?!?!
