The mid-season cucumber "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" and its early-ripening counterpart, "Veselaya Semeyka F1," were developed by Russian breeders. Both do not require pollinating insects, making them suitable for both greenhouse and open-field cultivation. The botanical description indicates that both varieties can be grown in all climate zones. According to gardener reviews, the vegetable requires regular care. Regular watering and fertilizing will ensure a yield of 9-11 kg per square meter. Both varieties can be seen in the photo.
Characteristics of varieties
In regions with warm climates and no risk of sudden frosts, the "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" variety is planted. The harvest can be collected 45-50 days after the first shoots appear. Developed by the Russian company Sedek, this variety is distinguished by good immunity to viral and bacterial diseases. In regions with unstable climates and cool summers, the hybrid "Veselaya Semeyka F1" variety is planted. The first harvest can be collected 38-40 days after the first shoots appear.

Preparation for landing
Despite some differences in the characteristics of the two varieties, planting is identical. There are two alternatives: using seedlings and without seedlings. In poor soils and in regions with capricious weather, it is advisable to sow the seeds in peat pots. The next step is transplanting them into a greenhouse.
The procedure is as follows:
- the purchased seed material is placed in a container with a weak solution of potassium permanganate;
- 2-3 hour bathing will disinfect the seeds;
- the seed material is placed in a saturated saline solution for 1-2 hours;
- The seeds that end up at the bottom are suitable for further use, and the rest are disposed of;
- The seed material is bathed in any growth stimulator for 35-60 minutes.
Prepared seeds are planted in peat pots. The first hardening-off occurs on the 11th to 14th day. The containers with seedlings are taken out onto the balcony for 5-7 minutes every day. This "walking" will help build the greenery's immunity. Transplantation into open ground Planting is carried out when two factors are met. First, at least two full-fledged leaves have appeared. Second, the nighttime air temperature does not drop below +15°C to +16°C. Planting is carried out in holes 10-12 cm deep, with a distance of 40 cm between holes and 35-40 cm between rows. If there is insufficient free space in the area, planting is carried out in a staggered pattern.

Growing with and without seedlings is fraught with risks. If the soil is too acidic, the seeds will not take root. First, measure the pH. If it's above 6-7, add a mixture of ash and dolomite flour in a 1:1 ratio. 2.5 kg is needed per square meter of plot. Another important factor is soil moisture.
The hybrid varieties "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" and "Veselaya Semeyka F1" are quite demanding when it comes to soil nutrition. Prepare the soil immediately after last year's harvest. Dig, remove organic waste, and loosen the soil. Repeat the soil digging and apply a complex fertilizer 2-3 weeks before planting. Other recommendations:
- in open ground the distance between plants is at least 60-70 cm;
- a trellis is installed next to each bush;
- as soon as the upper part of the main stem reaches the edge of the trellis, it is immediately pinched;
- in small greenhouses, the distance between bushes can be reduced to 35-40 cm;
- Watering is preceded by mandatory monitoring of the soil moisture level;
- water with warm, settled water only at the roots - do not allow water to get on the leaves;
- recommended watering regime: 1 time every 2 days;
- if it becomes suddenly hot, then watering is carried out every day;
- Moisture is added in the evening or in the morning, before the sun reaches its peak activity.
During the first two weeks of seedling life in their permanent location, use complex liquid fertilizers. Apply them simultaneously with watering. One plant requires 2 liters of the mixture. From the third week, switch to standard feeding. The hybrid varieties "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" and "Veselaya Semeyka F1" prefer organic fertilizers. The application rate is 1.5-2 kg per 1 m² of plot. If forecasters predict frost, the gardener slightly adjusts the recipe. Prepare a mixture of mullein and bird droppings in a ratio of 1:3. The finished product is laid out near the tree trunk circle.
Reviews
Tamara
Once fruiting begins, I pick the cucumbers every day. The hybrid variety "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" is prone to overgrowing. If you delay harvesting for even a day, the flesh will become tasteless.
Galina
"Veselaya Semeyka F1" has a shelf life of up to 3-4 weeks and tolerates long transportation. I grow it commercially. In the Krasnodar region, I get up to 15 kg per square meter.
Andrey
"Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" requires virtually no additional treatment. The bush has excellent immunity to viral and bacterial diseases. I only need to ensure a stable temperature regime and avoid overwatering and nutrient deficiencies. The only drawback of this variety is that it is at risk for insect pests. If they appear, I use only biologically active products. Otherwise, the fruits will absorb the pesticides.
The hybrid varieties "Veselaya Semeyka F1" and "Druzhnaya Semeyka F1" were developed by Russian breeders. They are suitable for all climate zones. They are characterized by good immunity, consistently high yields, and low maintenance. Seeds are purchased. Growing them yourself is possible, but yields will drop to 5-6 kg per square meter. Both varieties are considered universal and are suitable for slicing, salads, and canning.
