We calculate favorable days for sowing broccoli seedlings in 2021 according to the moon

Cabbage

Select favorable days for planting and caring for broccoli or asparagus, taking into account the variety and the regional climate. Begin planting 55-60 days before the expected transplanting date. The more time the greenery has to develop, the less likely it is to lose a harvest. According to the lunar calendar, broccoli seedlings should be planted in 2021 when they have at least three fully developed leaves and a well-developed root system is visible.

Broccoli: favorable days for sowing

Asparagus cabbage, or broccoli, is an annual vegetable plant. Almost all varieties have dark green heads, densely packed florets, and juicy stalks. Visually, broccoli resembles cauliflower. The only difference is that the head can be purple or greenish in color.

This product has become popular due to its high vitamin and micronutrient content. 100 grams contains approximately 28-30 kcal, while the vegetable provides the body with its daily dose of nutrients. I recommend broccoli for dietary purposes. Even in large quantities, asparagus does not cause obesity.

When sowing broccoli yourself, it's important to follow astrological recommendations. They distinguish two categories of favorable days. The first refers to periods of time when you only need to water and fertilize:

  • March 1, 2, 3, 4, 17, 18, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31;
  • April 8, 9, 14, 18, 19, 25, 26, 28;
  • May 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29.

The second category includes dates when green spaces are planted. In March, this procedure is performed on the 1st-7th and 13th-20th. In April, favorable days are the 1st-6th and 12th-19th, and in May, the 1st-5th and 11th-18th.

Sowing seeds at home in boxes

This nutritious vegetable can be grown not only in open ground and greenhouses, but also indoors on a windowsill. If you decide to plant the seeds in containers, follow these steps: First, purchase and disinfect the seeds in a saturated solution of potassium permanganate. The second step is immersing them in a liquid growth accelerator. The water treatments in both cases last 45 minutes.

Step three: Place the seeds on a damp cloth in a warm location, but out of direct sunlight. Step four: Place the slightly sprouted seeds in holes spaced 20 cm apart. Add 2 teaspoons of peat moss to each hole. If you decide to transplant some of the mature plants to a greenhouse, they must be pricked out.

Planting seeds in a greenhouse

A solution suitable for any climate zone. First, check the soil in the greenhouse. Remove traces of the previous harvest, and treat the soil with a saturated solution of potassium permanganate. The next step is to check the nutrient levels. The simplest option is to analyze previously planted crops. If you're growing legumes or ornamental flowers in the greenhouse, for example, it's best to wait. The soil needs to rest for at least one season.

Check the seedlings 7-10 days after planting. If the seeds don't germinate, they'll need to be replanted in more nutritious soil. Don't worry if some of the seeds do begin to actively grow.

Sowing in open ground

In southern regions, seeds are sown in a permanent location. The first step, as in the cases described above, is preventative treatment of the seed. To ensure successful planting in prepared open ground, a second step is performed. The seed is moved to its permanent location after measuring the soil pH. The pH does not exceed 6.2-6.4.

Note!
The third step is preparing the holes. The important distance between them is about 35-40 cm, and between rows – 55-60 cm.

Planting seedlings in the ground

Seedlings should be planted outdoors only after they have 2-4 full-fledged leaves. Another sign is a well-developed root system. The roots appear strong and show no signs of rot or other diseases. Soil preparation is as follows:

  • the depth of the hole is equal to 85% of the plant’s length;
  • 300 g of complex fertilizer is placed in each hole;
  • Immediately after planting the seedlings, they are watered.

Cultivation procedures are carried out in warm, windless weather. There should be no rain for three days before transplanting.

How does the region affect planting time and when not to plant?

You can plant your own seedlings or seeds in all climate zones. The only caveat is that in regions with predominantly cold climates, this vitamin-rich vegetable should be grown indoors.

Region When to plant Note
Central Russia, Moscow region First half of May Keep out of direct sunlight
Northwestern District II-III ten days of May Only after the onset of consistently warm weather
Siberia, Urals Third ten-day period of May Only in the greenhouse
Southern regions First ten days of March -
Chernozem region, Volga region First ten days of May -

The ripening speed of a variety is chosen based on the climate. The longer the warm weather lasts, the longer the seedlings will mature. In areas with capricious weather, only early-ripening varieties are suitable. Broccoli is a vegetable sensitive to external factors. Not only the spacing of plantings but also the phases of the moon's activity are important. Astrologers have identified a list of unfavorable days:

  • March 12, 13, 14, 28;
  • April 11, 12, 13, 27;
  • May 10, 11, 12, 26.

During the specified time periods, do not engage in any work related to the care or sowing of the mentioned vegetable.

Growing tips

The optimal temperature for planting broccoli seeds is between 24°C and 26°C. If the weather outside is changeable, place the seedlings in a heated greenhouse. Minor temperature fluctuations negatively impact the future harvest. Another requirement is regular humidification of the indoor air with a mister. If a heating system is used, ensure it doesn't dehydrate the oxygen inside the greenhouse. Otherwise, the seedlings will grow small.

Note!
Despite the vegetable's high resistance to adverse factors, regular preventative maintenance is essential. Seedlings are inspected every 3-4 days for pests and signs of disease.

What kind of soil does cabbage prefer?

The vegetable requires a significant amount of moisture. After each watering, the soil is loosened. This ensures rapid oxygen access to the root system. Broccoli does not thrive in overly acidic soil. If the pH exceeds 6.2, dolomite flour is added. 300-400 g is required per square meter. The first tilling is done two weeks before the expected date of planting the seedlings in the greenhouse. The following substances are added:

  • 40 g ammonium nitrate;
  • 30 g superphosphate;
  • 30 g potassium chloride.

Apply 500-600 g per 1 m² of the plot. Add 2 tablespoons of humus to the prepared holes. The soil is next treated in the spring, as soon as the temperature stabilizes at +24°C to +26°C. Add 10 liters of compost per 1 m².

How to plant correctly

Broccoli seedlings should be planted at a distance of approximately 40 cm between holes and 60 cm between rows. The depth of each hole is equal to the size of the seedling. Carefully push the seedling almost completely into the ground, leaving only the top portion. Cover it with soil so that the growing point is above the ground. Another important point: immediately before planting, pinch off the strongest root of the seedling. This procedure will speed the development of a strong root system.

Before planting prepared broccoli seeds in the ground or seedlings, inspect them. Any slight signs of damage or drying out are a strong reason not to use such material.

Watering and fertilizing

In the Moscow region and other regions, water the vegetable sparingly. Mature seedlings are watered once a day in the late afternoon. Choose calm weather. After each watering, as mentioned earlier, loosen the soil. Young plants are watered lightly twice a day. Fertilizing the crop requires equal care. Proper care should be as follows:

  • the first feeding is carried out 1 week after planting;
  • prepare a mixture of 2 tablespoons of urea per 5 liters of water;
  • the finished composition is divided into 15 plants;
  • the second feeding is carried out after 2 weeks;
  • prepare a mixture of mullein and water in a ratio of 1:4;
  • water each plant at the root;
  • the third feeding is carried out shortly before the cabbage blooms;
  • prepare a mixture of 2 tablespoons of superphosphate and 10 liters of water;
  • The prepared solution is divided equally between 10 plants.

When to expect ripening

Harvest times depend on climate conditions and the characteristics of the selected variety. For example, in central Russia, the harvest time is approximately 100 days, in southern regions – 90 days, and in cold climates – 120 days from the end of sowing for seedlings. Ripe cabbage is harvested only in the morning. This is due to the greater volume of juice and nutrients. If the harvested head of cabbage turns out to be excessively firm, don't worry. Simply cook it for a while. Loose or overly large heads of cabbage are the least beneficial.
