A very quick and impressive dessert can be made with just three ingredients. If you have some ready-made puff pastry, some jam, and a few apples, you can easily bake beautiful "Apple Rose" buns.
Even a schoolgirl can handle this step-by-step recipe with photos.
Necessary products:
- puff pastry – 800 g;
- apples – 4-5 pcs.;
- apricot jam – 80-90g;
- lemon juice – 1 tbsp;
- water – 2-3 tbsp;
- wheat flour – 1-2 tbsp.;
- powdered sugar – 2-3 tbsp.;
- vegetable oil
How to make apple roses
Wash the apples and remove the cores (seeds). Cut into thin (2-3 mm) slices and arrange on a flat plate. Mix the lemon juice with water in a bowl, then drizzle the apple slices with this mixture.
Place the dish in the microwave. Cook for 2-3 minutes at high power. The apple slices should be soft enough to be tender, but not falling apart. To avoid missing the perfect moment, cook in 1-minute bursts. Let them cool.
Prepared puff pastry should be defrosted first. It's best to do this gradually in the refrigerator. For example, transfer it from the freezer to the refrigerator overnight. Divide the dough into four equal parts. Roll one of them out into a thin sheet (3-4 mm) measuring approximately 35 x 18 cm. For ease of rolling, you can sprinkle a small amount of wheat flour on the work surface.
Using a sharp knife (a pizza cutter will do), cut the resulting layer into 3 equal strips. Each strip should be about 6 cm high.
Spread each piece with apricot jam.
If you don't have jam, you can use apricot or peach preserves. However, the fruit should be chopped first and mixed with the jam syrup. The consistency shouldn't be too runny.
Place apple slices on top of the strip so that they stick out by 1/2.
Fold the bottom edge towards the top.
Roll each piece into a roll and stand it upright. Prepare the remaining apple roses in the same manner.
To bake apple roses, use a metal muffin pan. This will ensure the buns retain their shape. Place each muffin in a well-greased pan. Bake at 180°C.0Bake until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes (time depends on your oven).
Carefully remove the finished apple roses from the mold once they've cooled slightly. Place them on a serving plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
