Prague Salad with Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, and Beef
While not as popular as the well-known Shuba and Olivier salads, the Prague salad still has its fair share of fans. This is no surprise: it's an interesting, vibrant, and delicious dish, perfect for both weekdays and holidays. As for the actual preparation of the Prague salad, there's nothing complicated about it—and that's another plus of this recipe. If you're new to it, check out our photo tutorial, which explains step-by-step how to make the Prague salad with bell peppers and beef.
Ingredients for 1 serving:
- 100 g boiled beef;
- 50 g marinated champignons;
- 1/3 red bell pepper;
- 0.5 small red onion;
- 0.5 small sour apple;
- 0.3 tsp lemon juice;
- 1 tsp mayonnaise;
- 1 tsp mild mustard;
- greenery for decoration.
How to make Prague salad
Cut the boiled beef into cubes and cut the marinated mushrooms into slices.
Cut the bell pepper into strips and the red onion into thin half rings.
Peel the sour apple and cut it into strips—about the same size as the bell pepper. To prevent the apple from browning, sprinkle it with a little lemon juice.
Combine all prepared ingredients and mix.
Place in a salad bowl.
Prepare the dressing – mix mayonnaise and mustard.
Pour the dressing over the salad.
All that remains is to decorate the salad with herbs to taste – and it’s ready.
Bon appetit!
There are several variations of the Prague salad: some don't boil the beef, but fry it and cut it into strips; some add hard cheese; and others omit the mushrooms or onions. This diversity in recipes only confirms the salad's popularity: it means people make it, customize it, and share the recipe.
You can change the dressing to suit your mood. It might not be mayonnaise and mustard, but a mixture of soy sauce, olive oil, and whole grain mustard. Greek yogurt is also a good option, and balsamic vinegar works well too. Experiment, find your own variations—it's so delicious!
