Far Eastern cucumber variety: growing, planting, and care, photos

The Far Eastern cucumber variety was officially registered in the USSR in the 1930s. However, it is known for certain that it was cultivated as early as the mid-19th century. The Avangard and Vladivostok 155 cucumbers were developed from the Far Eastern variety. It was officially registered in 1950. It can be grown in all regions of the Russian Federation. Almost all major Russian companies produce its seeds.

Main characteristics

This variety is bee-pollinated and suitable for outdoor cultivation. If placed in a greenhouse, hand pollination will be required. Far Eastern is a vigorous variety with long, branched shoots. The leaves are medium-sized and green, sometimes dark green.

Far Eastern has a mixed flowering pattern. Female and male buds are equally likely to appear. This is a mid-season variety. Plants begin to bear fruit approximately 50 days after the first shoots emerge.

The variety is unpretentious:

Growing technology

This variety has gained popularity throughout Russia. Cucumbers are grown in both the south and central regions. It is popular in areas with risky farming.

The seedling method is recommended. It allows for faster harvesting:

1. About a month before planting in the ground sow seeds in pots.
2. You can place 1-2 seeds in one container.
3. They need to be placed at a depth of 2 centimeters.
4. They can be grown both at home and in greenhouse conditions.
5. Recommended temperature is 27 degrees.

For outdoor cultivation in the Far East, choose soil with a high nutrient content. The soil should have good aerating properties.

• A few days before planting the seedlings, it allows the plant to receive nutrients that will help it successfully get through the adaptation period in a new location.

When the sprouts reach a height of 15 centimeters, they can be planted. The temperature should be between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. The ideal time for planting seedlings is early May.

Cucumbers of this variety should be grown using a trellis. The spreading method should only be used if planting in a hilly area. Under these conditions, one square meter is sufficient for five plants.

Cucumbers should be planted in holes spaced 35 centimeters apart. If you plan to grow cucumbers in a greenhouse, using seedlings is not necessary. The beds in the greenhouse should be 60 centimeters wide and spaced one meter apart.

Care

The main agricultural practices for the Dalnevostochny variety are watering, loosening the soil, and fertilizing. After planting cucumbers in open ground, they need to be watered regularly (twice a week). It's important to avoid allowing the soil to dry out. Evening is considered the ideal time for watering. If there is heavy rainfall, refrain from watering until the soil becomes dry. Water used for irrigation should be warm. Cold water will promote fungal diseases and root rot.

Fertilizing helps speed up the development of cucumbers:

1. During the first feeding, it's worth adding a special solution. To prepare it, you'll need 1 tablespoon of urea and 60 grams of superphosphate. These should be diluted in 10 liters of water. This feeding should be done after the first three leaves have appeared.

The Dalnevostochny 27 variety is characterized by excellent disease resistance. However, if cultivation practices are not followed, it may be susceptible to powdery mildew or root rot.

The main preventative measure is controlling the intensity and frequency of watering. Plants can be treated with fungicides. If the plant is completely infected, it should be dug up and destroyed. The hole where the diseased plant was should be treated with a copper sulfate solution.
