Characteristics and description of the tomato "Ladies' Man"

Tomatoes

Currently, the tomato variety called "Ladies' Man" occupies a leading position among early-ripening tomatoes. Gardeners who have tried early-ripening tomatoes at least once have become lifelong fans of these varieties.

This is a tall tomato, reaching 1.7 m. The leaves are large and rich green. The fruits are beautifully cylindrical, weighing 120-150 g. Ripe tomatoes are red.

The ladies' man can be grown both in greenhouses and open beds. This tomato is suitable for both fresh salads and winter preserves.

Growing this tomato has a number of advantages:

  • the fruits ripen very early;
  • retain their original appearance for quite a long time;
  • tolerates transportation well;
  • does not lose its beneficial properties for a long time;
  • has a sweetish taste, the flesh is tender and juicy.

How to sow seeds correctly to obtain seedlings

To obtain high-quality, healthy seedlings, sow the seeds in late March or early April. Before planting them in the soil, treat them with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Next, place the container in a warm place. During this period, no light is needed, and the temperature should be approximately 25-30 degrees Celsius.

Once the small seedlings, which still resemble tiny hooks, emerge, the boxes should be moved to another location. Here, they should be provided with fluorescent lighting, and the temperature should be lowered by 2-3 degrees.

When the plants reach the stage of 1-2 true leaves, they should be pricked out. For this, either use a larger container for all the plants, or transplant each plant into a separate cup. During this period, the plants should be fed approximately 2-3 times with a fertilizer complex.

About 7-10 days before planting, the seedlings need to be hardened off. This can be done by either opening the windows or briefly taking the seedlings outside.

Important! All of the above procedures should be performed only on sunny days. Drafts should also be avoided.

Tomatoes should be planted in open beds when they are 55-70 days old. It's important that the threat of frost has passed. This should be around early June.

In the greenhouse, planting occurs a little earlier – May 15-20. Planting is done using a 70x30 or 70x40 pattern. The plants require regular watering.

Important! Use only warm water for watering.

Tomatoes need to be fed during flowering and fruit set, as well as when slight redness appears on green tomatoes. This is necessary to improve fruit development.

The appearance of the bushes will tell you what they lack.

  1. If the plant is experiencing a nitrogen deficiency, the leaves on the bushes become very pale and the upper leaves do not curl.
  2. When nitrogen is overloaded, the leaves on the bushes become very dark. The upper leaves curl and remain dormant throughout the day. Few ovaries are produced, as the plant expends its energy on growing leaves and side shoots.
  3. If the plant receives sufficient nitrogen, the bushes will have a color typical of their variety, and the leaves will have the correct shape and size.

In order for fruits to ripen, they need potassium.

Important! Keep in mind that regular fertilizing will make tomatoes sweeter on the vine. However, they may also become much smaller.

Watering

Just like fertilizing, watering should be adjusted depending on the growing season. Tomatoes love moisture, but they also don't tolerate excess moisture in the soil. For example, when flower clusters are forming, overwatering can trigger excessive leaf and lateral growth. This will delay fruit development.

On the contrary, a lack of moisture in the soil can lead to delayed fruit development.

Also, during fruit set, a lack of soil moisture can lead to fruit loss. Overwatering after a long drought and sudden fluctuations in soil moisture can negatively impact the quality of tomatoes.

Tip! You'll forget about this problem if you get into the habit of regularly mulching the soil around the roots with straw or grass.

The Ladies' Man is a tall plant, requiring staking and removal of side shoots. The best way to grow this variety is to form two-stemmed bushes.

Features of cultivation

First of all, you need to ensure the right soil. It should be low in acidity. Tomato beds should be prepared in the fall. To do this, you need to add manure to the soil. But don't forget about fertilizing in the spring. At this time, in addition to manure, you also need potassium chloride.

Important! Before planting, you can treat the soil with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. This will prevent diseases and pests.

The "Ladies' Man" variety is resistant to most diseases that affect tomatoes. However, treatment is still necessary. A copper sulfate solution can be used for this purpose.

If you follow all the rules for planting and growing tomatoes, you can get a yield of approximately 10 kg per 1 m2 of area.

I've been gardening for quite some time, and as a professional, I can recommend Damsky Udnik (Ladies' Man) as a fairly good tomato variety. It transports well, making it ideal for sale. It also has another advantage: the fruit keeps well for a long time.

In our family, we all prefer canned tomatoes. I always make homemade preserves using my grandmother's recipes. So, after trying "Ladies' Man," our family was delighted.

I really liked the "Ladies' Man" tomato; it's undemanding in terms of growing conditions and is resistant to various diseases. I also really liked the fact that the fruits stay fresh for quite a long time.
