Characteristics and description of the tomato "Dikovinka"

Tomatoes

The Dikovinka tomato is a very interesting variety, popular with many gardeners in our country. Its main distinguishing features from its "brothers" are its high yield and early maturity.

Dikovinka should be grown in a greenhouse, as lower ambient temperatures can reduce yield. Let's take a closer look at this variety.

Description

Before rushing to buy Dikovinka seeds, it's worth familiarizing yourself with the key characteristics that distinguish this variety from others.

This tomato is considered an early-ripening fruit. The first harvest can be obtained just 2.5 months after planting. This tomato plant grows up to 2 meters tall, so it requires regular staking. Dikovinka bushes also require pruning.

ImportantTo ensure the fastest possible ripening of the fruit, the bushes should be trained into 2-3 stems.

The Dikovinka fruit is roundish in shape and dark red in color, often with a hint of brown. Each tomato weighs approximately 25 grams, but this doesn't prevent a harvest of 9-12 kg from each planting.

The main purpose of growing Dikovinka is to prepare a variety of salads and vegetable dishes. It can also be used for preserves, so the variety is used not only by amateur gardeners but also for industrial purposes.

Planting seedlings

The optimal time and season for planting this variety depends on the type of terrain and growing conditions. For example, in the central part of our country, the most fruitful season is early April, while in the north, it's mid-April.

Preparation of planting material

Growing Dikovinka begins with preparatory work. To do this, treat the seeds with a potassium permanganate solution in advance (usually three days before planting). The process is as follows:

  1. The seeds are moistened with the solution, after wrapping them in gauze;
  2. Place in a container with liquid for 15-30 minutes;
  3. Rinse thoroughly with running water.

Good to know! You can treat planting material not only with potassium permanganate but also with baking soda. To do this, dissolve about 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 liter of water and soak the seeds in it for 24 hours.

Once all the preparatory work is complete, you can begin preparing the soil for planting. It should be clean and disinfected. For example, place it in the oven for 20 m (set to a temperature of about 200 degrees Celsius). Hot running water is also suitable for this purpose.

Planting seeds

Before planting the Dikovinka seeds, fill the seedling tray with soil. Once all the containers are ready, make small holes in the soil—just 2-3 cm deep. Leave about 5 cm between them.

Next, place the seeds in each hole and cover with the remaining soil. Firm the soil and water. Now you can transplant the seedlings to a well-lit location.

Transplanting seedlings

After 1-1.5 months, the seedlings can be transplanted outdoors. However, if frosts persist or temperatures are too low during this period, it's best to hold off on transplanting.

Territory

To ensure Dikovinka maintains its highest yield, it's important to select the optimal growing location. It's recommended to plant this variety in areas that receive consistent sunlight and are protected from strong winds.

Soil type is also important for the normal development of this tomato. It should be moist, loose, and contain an optimal amount of minerals or organic matter (be fertilized).

Good to knowIf possible, it's worth planting Dikovinka in soil where cabbage, cucumbers, and onions were previously grown. This will significantly impact the yield.

Planting seedlings

The quality and abundance of the harvest directly depend on proper planting and care. Therefore, it's important to carefully review all recommendations regarding these processes beforehand:

  • The first step is to create holes for the bushes. They are made in a 50x50 cm pattern;
  • It is important to first drive a stake near each hole, which will be used to tie up the plant;
  • After all the rows have been formed, you can plant the bushes - they are placed in holes, covered with soil, and then moistened;
  • Now each bush can be tied to a peg so that it does not break due to the wind.

A rare tomato, even a novice gardener can grow it. However, it's important to always remember the planting and care guidelines to enjoy a bountiful and delicious harvest.

Reviews

Nikolay Ivanovich, 41 years old, Krasnodar

"I've always loved the Dikovinka for its unique flavor. Everyone in my family loves this tomato, too, so we spend all our time working together in the garden. I use the Dikovinka in salads."

A single bush, approximately 2.3 meters tall, can yield around 15 kg of fruit, which is also very pleasing. I recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to bother with caring for their tomatoes."

Anatoly Nikolaevich, 60 years old, Moscow

I encountered Dikovinka not long ago. I decided to simply try a new variety, as I'd always grown regular tomatoes in my garden. I took the plunge and was generally pleased.

I'm not very good at growing tomatoes, and I don't consider myself a gardener, but with Dikovinka, everything worked out without any major problems. This tomato is very easy to plant and care for—that's for sure."
