Before the summer season begins, gardeners need to prepare well. They need to decide on the difficult choice of vegetable and fruit varieties for their gardens. They also need to determine the intended uses of certain fruits and vegetables.
One of the first vegetable crops to be prepared for seedlings, almost at the beginning of spring, is the tomato. Each variety has its own specific growing and care techniques, as well as fertilizing requirements. This article is dedicated to one tomato variety: "False Erla."
Characteristics, description, and yield of the Falshivy Erla variety
False Erla is a tomato variety belonging to the indeterminate, tall, large-fruited tomato family. The first fruits can be harvested approximately 60 days after transplanting the seedlings into open soil.
It's perfect for eating fresh, as well as for making sauces, purees, and stir-fries. It also makes an excellent fresh-squeezed tomato juice.
This tomato variety can grow up to 2 meters tall, yielding up to 6 kg of fruit per plant. However, with proper care, the yield can reach even higher levels.
Description of fruits
The fruits of these tomatoes are flattened and slightly ribbed at the base. They are green when ripe, but turn pink when ripe.
Tomato skins are not very elastic and require careful harvesting, transportation, and storage, otherwise they may crack.
The fruits are incredibly juicy and fleshy, and due to their high sugar content, they can be considered sweet. The average vegetable weight is 300-400 g, but with careful care they can reach much larger sizes. The leaves of these tomatoes are bright green, reminiscent of potato leaves.
These tomatoes have an incredible fresh aroma. However, due to their thin skin, they don't keep well.

Growing and care
Each tomato variety has its own growing characteristics. Some produce more fruit outdoors, while others thrive in greenhouses. But some varieties are truly versatile. The False Erla tomato is one of these versatile varieties, as it grows well both in greenhouses and outdoors.
For tall and large-fruited varieties, the seedling method is recommended. Sowing seeds in open soil may prevent them from ripening.
Plant disease prevention should be implemented as early as the seedling preparation stage. This requires disinfecting the seeds. Disinfection is carried out using a weak solution of potassium permanganate or products available at a gardening store. Wrap the seeds in a bandage or any thin cloth, soak them in the solution, and let them sit for 20 minutes. Then, let them dry.
To prepare the right soil for seedlings, mix it with humus, water it, and prepare holes 3 cm deep. Then, sift the seeds into the holes, and the seedlings are ready.
Seedlings should be prepared no later than 60 days before planting. Three weeks after sowing, you can begin hardening off the plants. This procedure should be repeated daily.
Transplant seedlings into open ground after all danger of frost has passed. In open ground, good spacing between plants is essential. The greater the spacing, the more room the plant has for growth. The holes should be at least 40-50 cm deep, with a distance of 70 cm between them.
For your convenience, it's best to prepare vertical support while the plants are small. This variety requires staking, as the bushes' height and weight prevent them from growing without support.
Care
For tall plants, important conditions for a good yield are watering, pruning side shoots, loosening the soil, removing weeds, fertilizing with mineral substances and fertilizers, and tying to a vertical support.
It's best to use natural fertilizers, such as bird droppings or cow dung. Natural fertilizers are harmless to humans and don't affect the taste or smell of the fruit.
