Many gardeners and summer residents prefer to plant only proven tomato varieties or tomatoes from seeds they collected themselves. However, new varieties have appeared on the market that can be safely planted in your own garden.
One such variety is the hybrid from the agricultural firm "Partner" - the tomato "Familia".
Characteristics and description of the variety
The Familia tomato is a very early, indeterminate, pink-fruited hybrid. It is distinguished by its high yield and excellent tomato flavor. This hybrid is also highly resistant to numerous diseases that commonly affect tomatoes. Because Familia is an indeterminate hybrid, it has unlimited growth and requires shaping during its growth.
The medium-sized fruits are attractively flattened and round, with characteristic wavy "ruffles" near the stem. The tomatoes are raspberry-red in color. They weigh between 150 and 200 grams. The fruits are uniform in size, indicating the high quality of this hybrid. The variety can yield up to 6 kg per plant.
When cut, the tomato has 4-5 chambers. The flesh is fragrant, very tasty, sweet and tart. The fruits are not hard, but the tomato is firm, which means it will transport and store well. Tomatoes of this variety are versatile. They can be eaten fresh in salads, and also used for preserving, pickling, and salting.
Tomato Familia: Growing and Care Features
This hybrid is resistant to temperature fluctuations. Fruit sets well in both very high and low temperatures. However, in central Russia, it is recommended to grow this variety in greenhouses or hotbeds. Outdoor cultivation will not yield the same yield as the hybrid can in greenhouse conditions. The stated yield is approximately 18 kg per square meter when planting four plants in that area.
The traditional seedling method is used for cultivation. It is recommended to sow the seeds for seedlings two months before planting. When the seedlings have at least two true leaves, they can be pricked out. The period from germination to the appearance of the first fruits is approximately 90 days. The plant is very tall, reaching over two meters in height. Therefore, given that most gardeners have greenhouses no higher than two meters, it is recommended to train the plants as they grow, preferably with two stems. This increases the yield when growing tomatoes in low greenhouses and hotbeds.
The Familia tomato is highly disease-resistant. Experts say there are no tomatoes that are completely resistant to late blight. This is due to weather conditions, irrigation, and other factors. However, one peculiarity is that very early varieties are much less susceptible to late blight. And the Familia tomato is precisely such a variety.
The basic rules for growing a good harvest are: fertilizing (with mineral and organic fertilizers), providing ventilation and lighting, and moderate watering.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
The Familia hybrid is characterized by a number of the following advantages:
- early ripening;
- high yield;
- wonderful tomato taste;
- presentation;
- shelf life and transportability;
- resistance to temperature changes;
- versatility in use.
This variety has no drawbacks, but it does have a few peculiarities. Familia is a first-generation hybrid (F1), and seeds from hybrids are not collected, so it's impossible to create your own seed bank. Furthermore, like all indeterminate varieties, the bushes require shaping and support.

Partner is famous for its seeds. We constantly monitor their new products. We also use their advice when growing our own plants. We planted the Familia variety in 2017. We grew it in a greenhouse. We were pleased with the yield and liked the taste.

A very attractive new variety. I'll try planting it this season. I've already bought the seeds. I'm a little confused by how tall the bushes grow and how to properly shape them.

We plant indeterminate varieties regularly. The main thing is to tie up the bushes early enough to prevent them from breaking under the weight of the harvest. And there will definitely be one. The family name has stuck with us. It produced a good early harvest and didn't get sick at all. We did, however, fertilize the tomatoes regularly, and we got gorgeous bunches of tomatoes.
