Thanks to the efforts of plant breeders, numerous varieties have emerged. They strive to create varieties that are as disease-resistant and tolerant of weather conditions as possible, continually improving their performance.
One of these is the Kakadu Tomato, which combines many positive properties.
Description
This early variety takes only 85-90 days from the first shoots to fruiting, a fact highly valued by many gardeners. The bushes are determinate and compact, with a height ranging from 70 to 90 centimeters. The stem is strong, with medium foliage and large leaves. The first inflorescence appears after 6-7 leaves, with subsequent inflorescences spaced 1-2 times apart.
The tomatoes are arranged in clusters of 5-6. They are round, slightly ribbed, and weigh between 180 and 250 grams. When ripe, they are light green with a yellow spot on the stem, which will fade over time. When fully ripe, they turn bright red. These tomatoes have excellent flavor, firm skin, and juicy flesh. They can be eaten fresh or preserved for the winter in salads, sauces, and juice, or even whole.
'Kakadu' can be stored for long periods under proper conditions, and is also easy to transport. It boasts high yields of up to 19 kg per square meter. Due to these characteristics, it can be grown both for home use and for sale.
Resistance to diseases and weather conditions
The plants are resistant to a number of common tomato diseases, largely because the variety ripens early and simply doesn't have time to become infected. The producers treated the seeds with low-temperature plasma, which significantly increased germination and also improved resistance to tobacco mosaic virus.

Growing seedlings
Sow seeds 50-55 days before the planned planting date in the garden or under cover. The seeds don't require any treatment, as the manufacturer has already taken care of this. Sow them in pre-prepared soil or store-bought soil, which often already contains all the nutrients necessary for tomato seedlings and is rich in micronutrients.
After planting, mulch the soil with peat or potting mix to a depth of approximately 1 centimeter. Then water with warm water, cover, and place in a warm place. When the seedlings emerge, remove the cover and place the container in a bright spot. The optimal temperature for seedlings is 16 degrees Celsius for a week, then increase to 20-22 degrees Celsius. Young plants are transplanted into individual containers when 2-3 leaves appear.
Water the seedlings 1-2 times a week, and apply liquid complex fertilizer several times. Before planting, harden them off by bringing them outside, beginning about a week beforehand.
Transplantation and care
Young seedlings are transplanted at the 6-7 leaf stage; by this point, at least one inflorescence should have formed. The bushes are planted using a 30 x 50 cm (1 ft) spacing pattern.2 Place 6-8 plants per hole. It's recommended to add a small handful of wood ash to each hole before replanting. Remove the plants from their cups with extreme care to avoid damaging the root system.
Regular watering and loosening the soil are essential for establishing the root system of seedlings. As we know, until the roots are established, fruit will not set. When the fruits on the cluster have reached the technical stage of ripeness, the lower leaves can be removed. This procedure will speed up ripening and prevent the development of fungal diseases. It is recommended to train the plants into 1-2 stems, then remove side shoots as they grow.
You can mulch the soil; this will help retain moisture and prevent the growth of weeds, which draw nutrients from the soil.
The 'Kakadu' variety responds well to mineral fertilizers. Fertilizers are applied to the soil every two weeks, stopping 14 days before harvest.

I read a lot of good reviews about the "Kakadu" variety online, and I liked its characteristics, so I decided to plant it. I sowed the seeds in March and grew the seedlings in a heated greenhouse, where they grew vigorously. Not a single plant got sick, and I picked the first ripe tomatoes at the end of June; they tasted simply delicious!

I was very pleased with the "Kakadu" hybrid. The seedlings grew without any problems, didn't cause any trouble, and developed well. I planted them in a greenhouse; the bushes are compact, not very tall, at about 90 centimeters each. The tomatoes are juicy and rich in flavor. They keep for quite a long time if picked at the technical maturity stage. So, I'll definitely plant this variety next year.
