Ozharovsky Raspberry Tomato: Variety Characteristics (Reviews)

Tomatoes

It's hard to find a gardener who doesn't want to grow a good tomato variety. There's nothing better than making a delicious and healthy salad with fresh, juicy tomatoes from your own garden, canning them, or processing them into tomato juice. The Ozharovsky Raspberry variety, with its unique flavor and ease of care, is an excellent choice.

According to farmers, any gardener, even with limited experience, can grow the Ozharovsky raspberry variety. The key is to follow the basic rules and pay close attention to the plant, and the results will be immediate.

Description

This pink-fruited variety is easily understood as a favorite among gardeners. Its tomatoes have a distinctive, subtle, pleasant flavor, rich fleshiness, and juiciness. They have become popular for making baby food and various vegetable purees. This tomato variety is one of the best among pink-fruited varieties due to its high yield and ease of care. It is considered an early-ripening variety. The bushes are characterized by a rolling, vigorous form. Bushes of this variety are classified as indeterminate, capable of reaching a height of two meters.

The leaves are large and distinctively dark green, reminiscent of potato leaves. The fruits are large, with 10-13 ripening per cluster. Some can produce more, up to 15 tomatoes. The minimum weight of a single tomato is on average 100 grams, while the maximum can reach 300 grams. Large fruits are typically found on branches closer to the ground. The fruits are typically elongated, although round ones are also common. Ribbing is subtle and occurs exclusively at the base of the stalk.

A distinct, deep raspberry-pink color indicates ripeness. Tomatoes have thin skin, which still protects the fruit from damage. The skin's toughness is not noticeable when eaten.

The pulp is characterized by good juiciness and a small number of seeds. The fruits are sweet and fleshy. Their composition, rich in amino acids and sugars, makes them suitable for dietary use or for children.

History of the variety, application

According to the registry, the Ozharovsky Malinovy tomato variety was developed by Russian breeders. This tomato grows well in all regions, including the northern regions. It thrives in a greenhouse or hotbed. Gardeners recommend planting it in open ground only for those growing crops in regions with warm and mild climates. The variety is characterized by high yields.

If you create ideal conditions for tomatoes, you can harvest 6 to 8 kg per bush. The fruits will be of high quality. According to the characteristics of the Ozharovsky Raspberry variety, it can bear fruit from the first month of summer until early October. The harvested crop has excellent shelf life, and the tomatoes withstand long-distance transportation well.

The ripe fruit is eaten fresh and is an indispensable ingredient for making pastes and sauces, purees, and juices. These fruits can also be canned.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The main advantage of the Ozharovsky variety is the high quality of its harvest. The tomatoes are visually perfect. They taste pleasant, with a subtle tartness and a more pronounced sweetness. For this reason, many children love this variety.

A huge advantage is the tomato's versatility. Small fruits are selected for whole-fruit canning. Others can be used in salads and for culinary purposes.

Farmers love Ozharovsky for its good fruiting, excellent shelf life, and ability to cope well with drought and many diseases.

Among the disadvantages is the need for a lot of attention to fertilizing the variety. Tall bushes require staking.

Growing features:

  1. This variety is easy to grow from seedlings. The plant can also be sown from seeds. It is recommended to sow tomatoes in the second ten days of March.
  2. For maximum germination, use a high-quality growth stimulant. Seeds should be sown in garden soil mixed with humus.
  3. The place for seeds should not be deeper than two cm.
  4. The soil is pre-irrigated. After sowing, the containers are stored in a warm place.
  5. Young seedlings should be pricked out as soon as leaves emerge. After pricking out, use a liquid fertilizing solution.
  6. The seedless method will give good results if you sow tomatoes in a greenhouse.
Important! The soil should be amended with plenty of humus. It's recommended to grow no more than four tomato plants per square meter.

According to gardeners, Ozharovsky Raspberry tomatoes respond well to drip irrigation. Fertilizer should be applied frequently, every 14 days. It's important to alternate organic and mineral fertilizers. To increase yield, gardeners should form pairs of stems and remove side shoots. Deformed flowers should be removed from the inflorescences promptly. Well-supported plants develop and produce better fruit.

Varietal problems

This variety is characterized by high resistance to many tomato diseases that can ruin the harvest. Gardeners need not worry about tobacco mosaic. Fusarium wilt and verticillium wilt are also rare.

Late blight is rare. Honey-based preparations should be used as a preventative measure during planting. Gray root and blossom-end rot may develop if the greenhouse is neglected for ventilation. Regular loosening, weeding, and removal of weeds reduce the risk of disease development.

As a preventative measure, many farmers use a weak solution of potassium permanganate on tomatoes. Fitosporin has demonstrated good effectiveness. Industrial insecticides are used to control pests. Chamomile and celandine-based infusions are also helpful, as are onion peels. Some use a mild solution. Chemical treatments can be used before the plant begins to bloom. The Ozharovsky Raspberry tomato variety requires basic care and doesn't require much time or effort.

I planted this tomato in the ground last year. I can't remember if I didn't have enough room in the greenhouse or the description wasn't accurate. But the bush was incredibly vigorous and covered in tomatoes. Apparently, it didn't have enough time to finish growing all the tomatoes; the summer was cold. Fortunately, it's the right variety; I made seeds and will be planting them in the greenhouse.
