The pleasant dessert flavor of "Pink Heart" tomatoes will appeal not only to fans of pink varieties. The sweet and fleshy fruits will satisfy even the most discerning palates.
In addition to their exquisite taste, tomatoes of this variety are impressive in size—one tomato weighs about 400 grams.
Main characteristics and description of the variety
The main difference between the Russian "Pink Heart" variety and other varieties is the large size and heart-shaped pink fruit. The plant's stems can reach a height of two meters. A warm climate and greenhouse conditions promote vigorous growth. In open ground, tomatoes grow well in warm regions, reaching a height of 1.5 to 1.7 meters.
The fruits are gently ribbed, deep pink when ripe, and weigh 400-500 grams during the first harvest. Subsequent tomatoes weigh 200-300 grams. The tomatoes are medium-firm, fleshy, and resistant to cracking.
The juicy pulp of the fruit has a sweet taste and is primarily used in salads. Organic acids and sugars in tomatoes are optimally balanced, giving the "Pink Heart" its unique flavor.
With proper care, a single plant can yield up to 3 kg of tomatoes. Three plants fit per square meter. A plot of 1 square meter yields 7 to 9 kg of tomatoes.
The plant's leaves are green, large, with serrated edges; the flowers are small, yellow, and simple.
The tomato variety is standard and indeterminate, medium ripening, the ripening time of tomatoes is 110 - 120 days from the day of germination of the first shoots.
Benefits of tomatoes
Tomatoes have thick skin, high sugar content and are resistant to viruses.
Advantages:
- excellent taste;
- high fruit set;
- disease resistance;
- tomatoes do not crack.

Flaws:
- Pink Heart tomatoes are heat-loving and in northern regions they are grown only in greenhouses.
- This large variety produces a small yield.
- The huge fruits do not fit into a jar, and therefore they are not closed for the winter.
- Vegetables do not have a long shelf life and spoil during long-distance transportation.
- The plants have weak branches and require mandatory garter.
- The bushes are capricious in care.
The purpose of tomatoes
This pink tomato variety is ideal for fresh eating and summer salads. Thanks to its excellent flavor, it's perfect for making juices, sauces, ketchups, and purees. If you're really looking to preserve tomatoes for the winter, you can pickle them in barrels.
Planting and growing seedlings
The planting period for seedlings of this variety is 60 days from sowing the seeds. Purchased seeds are inspected for mold before planting.
In early March, tomato seeds are sown in prepared containers filled with soil. The soil is a mixture of black soil and peat. The seeds are planted 0.5 cm deep, covered with soil, and carefully watered. Cover the containers with plastic wrap and move them to a warm, bright location (temperature 25°C).
The film is removed after the seedlings emerge. The air temperature should be 14-15 degrees Celsius for the first week, gradually increasing to 23 degrees Celsius.
The seedlings are transplanted into individual pots after the plant has three leaves.
Side shoots are removed when the seedlings have reached 4-5 cm. They are formed into two shoots. Removing side shoots allows for denser planting.
A week before transplanting, harden off the seedlings. They are taken outside for a few hours a day. A couple of days before planting, trim off the bottom three leaves of the young plants to protect them from disease.
Two months after sowing the seeds, the seedlings are transferred to a greenhouse or open ground. By this time, the young plants already have 8-10 leaves and one inflorescence. The tall plant is planted in a hole at least 20 cm deep. Ash (1 liter), humus (1 liter), and superphosphate (15 g) are added to the hole. The seedlings are spaced 50 cm apart. Three plants are planted per square meter. The holes are covered with mulch.
Care instructions
The bushes have weak lateral shoots and grow tall, so they require supports and tying. To increase yield, the plants need to be trained.
Water tomatoes regularly, but sparingly. Young plants require more frequent watering.
The first fertilizer is added to the soil three weeks after transplanting the seedlings to the garden. Ingredients: 10 g potassium chloride, 50 g superphosphate. The second fertilizer application is made during the formation of the first ovaries: 20 g potassium nitrate and 80 g liquid superphosphate. The bushes are fertilized with the same composition during the fruit ripening period (two fertilizer applications).
Don't forget to weed around the seedlings.
Disease resistance
The "Pink Heart" variety is disease-resistant, but brown rot fungus can damage the plants. If the bush is completely damaged by the fungus, remove it and burn it. Applying nitrogen and removing damaged foliage will help prevent infection. Melon aphids can be controlled with the "Zubr" preparation. Scattered ash helps repel slugs.
By following a few preventative rules, you can avoid unnecessary problems:
- spray the bushes with special preparations once every 10 days;
- disinfect the greenhouse and tools;
- ventilate the greenhouse;
- correct watering regime;
- mulching around the holes with hay, dry grass, sawdust;
- Timely fertilizing will strengthen the plants' immunity.
Regions for growing tomatoes
This tomato variety is intended for greenhouse cultivation. It does not tolerate cold and windy conditions well. In the southern regions of the country, tomatoes ripen easily in open ground. In central Russia, the bushes are grown under plastic film. In northern regions, tomatoes thrive only in greenhouses.
Pink Heart Tomato Reviews
Margarita, Bryansk
The Pink Heart tomatoes sprouted quickly and delighted me with their strong seedlings. I grew the tomatoes in a greenhouse and planted a few plants in a garden bed. The yield wasn't great; I think I didn't create the right conditions. But the fruits were delicious and juicy. They ate them all quickly, so there was nothing left for canning.
Olga, Leningrad region
I chose the tomatoes based on the photo and really liked their appearance. The taste didn't disappoint either. The flesh was sweet and plump. Each plant in the greenhouse yielded at least two kilograms of tomatoes.
Valentina, Kursk
The tomatoes grew beautifully—large and delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the small yield.

This is my second year planting Pink Heart tomatoes. This year, I've been delighted with them, producing the best fruit of all. They hang like nails, 6-8 at a time, and are quite large. They're very beautiful and delicious. I plan to take some seeds and plant only this variety next year. I'm planting them in a polycarbonate greenhouse. I care for them as usual, watering them infrequently.
