Tomatoes are one of the most widespread and popular crops worldwide. Tlacolula tomato seeds were brought to our latitudes from Mexico. The variety was named after the city from which the seeds originated.
The fruit, unlike the varieties we are accustomed to, has a very unusual appearance.
Characteristics of the variety
This mid-season, high-yielding variety takes 115 days from germination to fruit ripening. It has thick walls and a distinctive pear-shaped form with a ribbed surface. It has excellent flavor due to its high sugar content and lack of organic acids.
To ensure timely seedling production, sow the seeds in late March or early April. Furthermore, the Tlacolula tomato variety thrives in both light and heat.
Fruit characteristics:
- the largest weight of one large tomato reaches 300 g;
- have a bright pink or crimson color at the technical stage of ripening, the color of the fruits at the biological stage is yellow-green;
- tomatoes are large, fleshy and have shiny skin;
- their flesh is sweet, juicy and aromatic;
- tomatoes store well;
- The fruits ripen faster if you pick them unripe and put them in a warm place.
The plant bush has the following features:
- branched, therefore requires garter;
- the plant is tall, reaching 1.5 to 2 meters;
- on it, clusters of 3 to 7 pieces are formed, and 6-7 fruits ripen, with the largest tomatoes on the lower branches;
- For a large harvest, 2 stems with 3-5 clusters are left on the bush.

The Tlacolula tomato variety does not tolerate overwatering, so the plant should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out or in hot weather.
There are varieties of Tlacolula such as White Tlacolula, Yellow Tlacolula, Pink Tlacolula and de Matamoros.

- The soil must be loose to allow air to circulate.
- Seedlings should be planted at least 50 cm apart, to a soil depth of 18 cm. It is recommended to add wood ash to each hole.

Reviews
Most reviews on websites about growing Tlacolula are overwhelmingly positive. Since this variety is still quite rare and not widely available, it's recommended to buy seeds from reputable producers.
Vegetable growers who grow this variety note that these tomatoes are versatile: they can be added to fresh salads, cooked, canned, and even frozen. The skin is thin, and the flavor is delicate and sweet, making them popular for making tomato juice and sauces. The fruits also withstand long transportation, making them ideal for commercial cultivation.
The only caveat is that the plant does not tolerate drought, and in a dry summer it may not produce a harvest.
In short, gardeners love and approve of planting the Tlacolula variety.
